Two officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were yesterday, ambushed and killed by gunmen suspected to be of the Boko Haram sect in Kano.
The midday tragedy, which happened at about 1.00p.m. came on the heels of a similar onslaught, on Tuesday at Kofar Dawanau in the state capital, which led to the death of two police officers.
Security sources told Daily Sun on Wednesday, that the deceased officers of the FRSC were shot somewhere around Madobi Roundabout in Kombotso Local Government Area.
Two other officers in the same official vehicle survived the attack, one of whom sustained injury after he was shot in the leg while the other escaped unhurt though frightened by the horrific incident.
The names of the deceased officers were given as A .Sarki and Zakari I. said a source who added that the late Zakari. I was the driver of the vehicle and was shot at close range by the gunmen.
The remains of the deceased, Daily Sun gathered, were initially taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in the state capital, but were later moved at about 3.00p.m. to their respective family homes in Bichi,( Kano State) and Hadejia, (Jigawa State).
The deceased were driven in the official vehicles of FRSC and accompanied by men of the Joint Security Task Force in the state.
Spokesman of the Joint Security Task Force in the state, Lt Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the attack and said that the gunmen rode on a motorcycle and shot at their victims.
Speaking to Daily Sun also, the grief -stricken Kano State Sector Commander, Alhaji Zaki Alkali expressed pains at the death of the officers and prayed for repose of their souls. He told Daily Sun that the officers were on official patrol from Kano to Madobi when they met their sudden death. According to him, they had earlier received a distress call to the effect that there was an accident somewhere around Madobi area, adding that they were rushing down to the scene of the accident when some gunmen on a motorcycle, who were trailing them, suddenly opened fire on them.
He said that two of the officers died instantly, the remaining two survived the attack.
Daily Sun observed that the headquarters of the FRSC command in the state was gripped with gloom as officers were spotted discussing the tragedy.

Frsc is an exposed organ with the mandate of protecting $ regilating rules to safegurd long-life of every citizen.PLEASE DONT THEM!
Can’t the use of motor cycles, especially those fast moving ones, be stopped? Or can’t they be restricted to certain areas of the state? Lots of people are being killed in Kano daily. The press only reports when it involved government officials.
Many states capital in Nigeria have banned the operations of Okada riders, but the biggest city in Northern nigeria ‘KANO’ is yet to take a step in that direction, the evil doers who claimed they fight for their creator instead of d creator fighting for them have been killing innocent people on daily basis.
