Anambra worst hit by flood –Presidential team

The Federal Government has sent a team to Anambra State to assess the extent of damage caused by flood was declared the state as the worst hit among the 14 states affected.

Speaking through Minister of Environment, Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafa, while touring affected local government areas in the state, the team, which also has Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA,) and the Minister of Environment as members, said that Anambra was situated at the lowest point of the River Niger and therefore greatly affected by the flood.

The team commended state Governor, Mr. Peter Obi for his efforts to assist the victims. The Minister of Aviation, whose house alongside that of a former Minister, Prince John Emeka; former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Prince Chinedu Emeka; Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly,

Hon. Princess Chinwe Nwebili; Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Oselloka Obaze, among others were submerged by the flood, said that the situation was clearly beyond human comprehension. She thanked Governor Obi for his relentless efforts to offer assistance and support to the affected communities and assured that the Federal Government would come to the state’s aid.

The minister said that while in other communities, houses and farmlands were destroyed, multi-billion naira industries, including the three industries President Goodluck Jonathan commissioned on August 30, when he visited the state, are currently under water.

Conducting the team round the flooded areas, some of which they visited in a helicopter, Governor Obi said that four local government areas of Anambra West, Ayamelum, Anambra East and Ogbaru were completely submerged in water. He said that four others, Awka North, Ihiala, Onitsha North and Onitsha South suffered various degrees of destruction.

In the papers earlier this year I read about the report of Nigeria Meteorological agency specifically warning Nigeria about these floods. Why was there no arangement to at least limit its impact if it could not be controlled?
What happened to the ecological funds that are eagerly and forcefully collected by the governors? Now the floods are here, its the ordinary Nigerians that cannot afford to feed talk much of riding in helicopters that are suffering the devastation.
Cant the governors as a matter of urgency deploy their monthly security votes to handle the matter at hand. Even if it is just the humanitarian aspect only? And then collect their money back later with interest?
God help Nigerians in Jesus name.

I first of all thanK God for His Mercies and Protection to the People of Aguleri and other communities affected by the flood in Anambra State and also other affected states too because I Thessalonians 5: 18 says that we shall give God thanks in everything. I also thank Gov. Peter Obi for his effort so far in ensuring that relief materials get to the affected areas, may God continue to empower him more. I use this opportunity to ask the international communities to come to the aid of Anambra and other states affected by the flood because this is natural disaster that deserves urgent attention because a lot of our people need immediate attention in things like blanket, food, medicine etc. I also urge those concerned to properly coordinate those relief materials to reach the affected people. Thanks for your effort. Chikeluba Aguleri

It is a sign of God’s anger with the nation for our sins which we must admit and seek for forgiveness by confessing and repenting from all the evils abormination, blood shed especially the cessant attack on the church and Christians can bring down this nation in one day like what happened to sodom and gomorrah. There is no doubt about what is responsible for this national desaster. Its on records that we have witnessed worse rain fall in the past than what we have this year and there has never been any occurrence of what we are seeing today in this large scale. These are the things we used to read in the news from other hidden nations like India,China, japan,Indonesia, pakistan,Haiti, etc,But today we are joining those nations because we have deviated from the purity of spiritual atmosphere where we used to be.This is just a starting point of line of basket ful of God’s soldiers that have been summoned for military engagement in Nigeria.I am therefore making a clarion call on Mr.President to declare a seven day national prayer and fasting and repentance and sublication for God’s mercy.Otherwise,I am afraid that we are in for a big and more devastating big bang from God of veangeance .I and my Family,we have satrted in earnest to save our neck from this disaster. The Bible says Knowing the wrat of God we warn men to desist from evil.A word is enough for the wise.
