Aluu killing: Police arrests 21

From MOLLY KILETE, Abuja
The Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday said it has arrested 21 persons involved in the brutal killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The students were killed at Umokiri Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The police also announced its readiness to bring all those involved in the brutal act to book no matter how highly placed the persons may be in the society.
Among those in the police custody is the traditional ruler of the community, Alhaji Hassan Welewa, who reportedly incited the mob to unleash terror on the deceased students.
Also in the custody of the police are four indicted persons said to have been closely linked to the barbaric act.
They are Felemo Solomon, Cynthia Chinwo, Ozioma Abajuo and Chigizie Samuel Evans.

Details in the Daily Sun on Tuesday.

The chief of that community so called Alhaji Hassan Welewa is a shame to other traditional rullers if he actually incited the mob for brutal and barbaric act that terminated the life of the 4 students at their prime. He should be made to pay supreme price as he could not prevail on his subject to hand over those students to the police rather instigated them to murder them. His family shall know no peace and sword will not depart from his house, useless idiot called chief. Shame to you.

I propose proactive approach should be deployed in crime control in Nigeria. This killing of UNIPORT (4) was just to confirm that their (suspect) cup has overflew. It was obvious that there have been so many accounts of urgly incidents that had been happening in same Aluu community in recent past, like frequent complain of missing persons, high rate of murder n other crime related activities. The community should have been seriously cautioned before now, and at same time well policed. why must NPF n other security agents wait till something devastating of this nature happens. its very expensive. Papetrators of this devilish act, if not that they were caught up by karmi, perhaps, could find themselves in one political office tomorrow. imagine the kind of chief they have. fair desert should be the best bt problem is valuation. worthless set of pple. Its high time our police work, be content, n stop enslaving the Law of Fed. Rep of Nig

two wrongs will never make a right, clamoring for the same level of brutality to be meted out on them won’t solve the issue. Until we ask the right questions we will never get to the root of any issue in other words we should aim to stamp out this barbaric event from ever being perpetuated in our surroundings by standing out to guarantee fair trial to every tom dick and harry alleged with an accusation. After all these savages who murdered these men didn’t bother to ask themselves “if neither has not sinned let him cast the first stone “.

Obviously, this is a case of unlawful murder (homicide, genocide as the case may be). Those involved in this grave crime should expeditely convicted and executed. For the sake of transparency and assurance of justice, the execution process should widely broadcasted in the national media. I hope Nigeria can be this transparent and civilized. This is an opportunity for the leaders to assure Nigerians of their commitment to providing the citizens’ security; and not by political speeches. It’s by action. Anyway, I just hope you are going to read this, the man in-charge.

The so called traditional ruler must have imposed himself over the community by deceit. He is actually following the Boko Haram script, in other words, he is a mole in the community. He however found willing hands in the thugs that did the actual killing because of poverty in the land. I suspect that the local police officers that were in the scene were surrogates of the same traditional ruler. The report has it that these police officers actually incited the lynch-men to set the unfortunate boys on fire. There is an attempt here to bury the truth. We still have the opportunity to dig the truth, nothing but the whole truth in this matter. There are video clips and there are accompanying voice recordings as well. Experts can easily analyse the voices in the crowd to pinpoint individuals. This is a serious matter and needs the best team of investigators to unravel the whole truth. If we can get this right, it will be the beginning of a better Nigeria. President GEJ to note this happened in his backyard.
