Ladipo traders on rampage

By CHIOMA IGBOKWE and BLESSED OKEBUGWU

The  crisis rocking the leadership of Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market, Mushin, took a new dimension on Thursday as the executive members of Ladipo Central Executive Auto Dealers Association and some of its members took to the streets protesting the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the Babaloja of the market.

LACEC and its numerous supports had on Thursday launched an attack on the Alhaji Oki led administration over what they described as an attempt to impose his authority on them. Alhaji Oki had organised some of his loyalists to clean the environment during the weekly environmental sanitation but were attacked by the aggrieved members of the LACEC who claimed that he was encroaching on their territory.

Addressing the protesters, President General, LACEC, Comrade Ikechukwu Animalu said that the union rejected the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the new Babaloja of Ladipo general market. “ Out of the 34 existing units in the market, Alhaji Oki controls only a unit. There is still an on going battle over his appointment as the new Babaloja. It was his attempt to impose his authority on us that led to the crisis that erupted on Thursday. We demand a formal election, so that the people will decide who their leader will be.

“We also appeal to the police to be fair in this controversial matter and call to order those who openly ordered us to either accept the imposition or return to our various states.”

On what led to the fight on Thursday, LACEC Secretary General, Pastor Steve Paul Ijioma said: “There has been controversy over the imposition of Alhaji Oki as the Babaloja. This led to several clashes and it was agreed that Alhaji Oki should restrict his authority in his unit pending when the matter is sorted out. During the environmental sanitation, he encroached on our territory and we resisted. The protest is to pass the message across that we do not want his leadership rather a free and fair election should be conducted. It is a pity that an Area Commander could openly ask us to accept Babaloja or return to our various states.”

Also at the protest was the royal father of the market, Chief Michael Nwosu who also said: “ 99 percent of marketers in Ladipo are Igbo. To be fair to all, he should come and contest if elected he will be accepted.

“We appeal to the South East governors, Igbo leaders across the globe to come to our aid.  They asked us to go back to our villages, if we are not ready to accept the leadership of Alhaji Oki. We pay our taxes in Lagos and have every right as Nigerians to buy and sell anywhere in the state.”

When Saturday Sun visited Alhaji Oki’s section of the market, it was littered with broken bottles and the two cars allegedly destroyed during the fracas. He said that he was ready to dialogue with aggrieved members of LACEC to find a way forward. “I was nominated two years ago to be installed the Babaloja of the market. LACEC through several petitions frustrated that move and the process was delayed. However two months ago, the late Abibat Mogaji finally installed me. To pass their message across they did not attend my installation, which was held in June 27, 2013.

  1. Goverment should entervian to resolve the issue not by telling Nigerian to return to their state while their is law .this boeling what i stupid coment pls we should no how to handle case before imposing post to people who does not wart the post ok

  2. Why are you telling them to go back to their various states?are they not Nigerians?where you not the one that fought to keep Nigeria one? If they persist we will go back to our villages but we will make sure that no crude or refined oil will be conveyed from east to anywhere in Nigeria, everybody will remain in his states and manage what they have.

  3. Since fashola came into power he has been anti-igbo,last week fashola deported 67 igbos to anambra state,APC is playing a politics of hatred against the igbo,my question is,what have the igbos done to APC group of ppl ?

  4. What do old woman know to install you for ? You wants to chairman an area you couldn’t muster up to 500 lock up stalls as against 10,000 with population not less than 100,000 people while your 500 stalls couldn’t even produce about 600 people in its numerical strength .
I’m not ready to join issues all the time with my people because many of them has been fragmented. They want to be Yoruba more than the Yorubas. Some of them who are not even born in Lagos were claiming to be more Lagosians but I’m still looking at you guys. When I continue to say things the way it is in this country you guys are the one to pick offence against me as one being too stubborn and troublesome . Non of you can even speak Yoruba language so fluently but here you are. Always running when the cloud are descending heavily with downpour . What happened to Oba market site the then Anambra state Government told all you people to develop even at then I was still capturing all these development on CCTV 9 while in China. Yours conditions always mare my day each time I came close to these intimidations and harassment in a nation you people are calling your country.
In China where put about 13 solid years with about 1.6 billion population though under confederated units no citizen of that nation can issue statement(s) similar to that of the so called area commander such statement is liable to put the public servant to life imprisonment . I am not interested on who becomes the chairman of that mkt unit but rather relocate all your wares to South East. This should provide a permanent solution mainly on harassment and wanton intimidation occasioned by those that pretend to love you .

    • Very well said. Let them go back to BIAFRA and if we want we will come to Onitsha to buy or if Cotonou is closer we will go there to buy. It is a free world.

  5. I thank God for what is happening in Nigeria today, it is an eye opener for people living in various part of country. Since Boko haram started in the north, a lot people are now coming home for the first time to build house and open branches of their business in the east. Now the cowards from the west have started theirs systematically. As far as i am concerned there is nothing like one Nigeria, it is only oil that binds us together as one nation. If the oil dries or becomes useless in future time, alas! Nigeria will collapse and they will chase my Igbo brothers from their investment with force both juju and other means. My people we still have time to relocate our companies from those envious and evil cities. Since we are good in production and importation, why can’t our Government provide a good environment for us to do our business? Look at Anambra with largest market in the west Africa, no international air port. Look at Aba with thousands of small industries no good road and international airport . We have empty lands in Ebonyi and Enugu state, can’t we bring some of those business there to avoid those Ishemaelites from killing us and our business. If we bring them home they will come and look for us to get what they want.

  6. When that criminal they called Tinubu started to advocate the use of state police in the country I really positioned my mind that this man wants the state police outfit to overrun these assets my people had in Lagos . My instinct is clearly proving me right. No state police yet but look at someone’s utterance an officer serving in his country are disseminating same people are making unnecessary overtures in Rivers State as against Rivers CP whom haven’t make any inciting words to be removed forthwith but what then happened to this idiot that is serving Lagos country as a police officer in Nigeria state? I continue to tell you people that I know Yorubas too well more than the way you guys are seeing them. Don’t ever stand up to visualise Yorubas but rather bend down very well there you will see Yorubas .

  8. Why is this Story Not in Other newspapers? This is unbelievable, the Yorubas are only progressive when things like this happen in other parts of the country(like river state crisis)

  9. Babaloja sounds like baba roger 2 me. When will Africans learn 2 develop their brain instead of using that of others to achieve their ill-gotten ‘progress’ with brute force?

  10. This matter needs urgent Govt intervention before it escalates beyond the present situation. We can’t continue like this in a Country we called ours.

  12. Prince Adu/Tokyo on

    TAKE YOUR TIME.
YOUR GOVERNORS ARE BAD….LADIPO IS A YORUBA LAND…THEY ARE FREE TO BUT A YORUBA MAN AS THEIR LEADER….REMEMBER ITS NOT A SHOPPING MALL OWN BY AN IGBO MAN,,,,THAT YOU HAVE MAJORITY DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE LEADERSHIP OF THAT MARKET…..,,,,Non-sense Igbo Traders, every where you go you want to have KING…in the Market again KING…Bus-Stop with 5 Igbos, you will have KING…Come to Tokyo here, every State of the East has KING here,,,but you have no Nationally Recognized KING in Nigeria like the ..Oba of Benin–Oni of IFE–Oba of Lagos—Olukare of Ikare–Sultan of Sokoto–Emir of Kano etc…..Please stop all these non-sense…I do not support telling IGBOS to leave any part of that Country as its one Nigeria, but Igbo Traders should put themselves where they belong…..I married to an Igbo Woman and lived in East for over 15 years before relocating with my Family Abroad….So i’m Igbo too by Marriage but the Truth should told…My In-laws should take their time.Thanks.

  13. Yoru-back stabbers are here again..lazy bones that wants to reap where they did not sow..95percent of the traders re igbos and you wants to LORD them?Awolowo has use our POUNDS in the bank to send you guys to school now its Baba Roja me..i hereby call on my fellow igbo guys that trades in LADIPO market to RELOCATE their WARES to South East cos they ve never seen anything..even if it was settled another one will happen..look at Igbos market in lagos Catching fire anyhow..Choscharis Billions of Naira worth of goods jst misteriously razed down by fire..MANDILLAS market at Balogun was RAZED down by fire by hired YORUBA AGBEROS jst to relocate IGBOS to TRADE FAIR MARKET LAGOS..Now that trade FAIR market ve been develop by igbos, lagos state govt is now laying claim that the market belongs to lagos state govt..this is how our people lost that market..Monkey dey work lazy EWEDU and AMALA eaters dey eat..when i told AFRICA and the WORLD that IGBOS are the ones FEEDING THE YORUBA NATION they ve to LISTING or investigate my CLAIM.

  14. @Price Adu Tokyo..what you married is an IGBO OUTCAST not a PROMISING FULL BLOODED IGBO GIRL..becouse no RESPONSIBLE IGBO PARENTS will allow her daughter to be EJACULATED WITH ISMAELISTIC AND LAZY BONE SPERM that will increase an army of PARASITES in South east in the name of inter-ethnic marriage..IGBOS and Yorubas are not in the same QUADRATUM..We re Jews and they re ISMAELITES..how can i EJACULATE my JEWISH SPERM to AN ISMAELITE?

    • You are not Jewish. You are Palestinians. Jews look after their own. They went to Ethiopia to look after the Ethiopian Jews. You are never Jewish. You are from Egypt. you are Berbers by tribe. Greedy lots. You have 10,000 lock up shops but you are paying rent to Yorubas who have decided to have a Baale over you. Accept it or go back to BIAFRA.

  15. Igbos,be prepaid to fight anywhere you are confronted in this country because this country belongs to all.You have enough number and money to confront your foes .Dont ever accept such imposition because it is not in your character and against even your culture and the Constitution of the Fed Republic of Nigeria.

  16. Boko haram could not be fought because they are terrorist but now this people in lagos are identifiable so it is lawful for you to fight.get your team of lawyers.get enough security to guide the market when you close and be ready to fight in defence of your property.Make history to stop this oppression. You cannot defend your property in Lagos, then it is very unfortunate

  17. @Uchebest,it is comments like yours that deepen ethnic tension in Nigeria. Please retrace your steps. The reporters should have given us the police angle of the story,to make the report balanced. All the same,if the Area Commander actually made such a statement, that is condemnable and regretable. But then we should learn to relate with other tribes very well.I think our major problem as a people is attitudinal.Yes,we are hardworking and creative;so are other tribes.Let us check our arrogance, pride and sometimes our aggression to other tribes.Even if Alhaji Oki was imposed on the traders they should have dialogued with him rather than reject him on tribal sentiments. Please we should stop behaving as if Igbos have perfect love for one another while other tribes are our common enemy. That’s untrue!A fellow Igbo whom I allowed to work for few months has been going round for sometime now tarnishing my corporate image, just because of the way I handled the case involving her and others. It is my Yoruba clients who have continued to show more loyalty to my business in spite of this campaign of calumy by a fellow Igbo. Please spare me this tribal nonsense.

    • Thank you my brother for being unbiased. I hate joining issues with commentators in Nigierian Forums because of their mentality. Everything is tribalised, ethnicised and regionalised. No one ever believe in “Nigeria First”. I wonder how we continue surviving as a country.

I don´t see anything wrong in nominating Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the new Babaloja of Ladipo general market. Alhaji Abidu Oki is a Nigerian. I don´t care if he´s Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo. I don´t equally care if he´s Efik, Birom or Edo, as long as he´s protecting the interest of the populace.

I know Ladipo market and i know some activities of LACEC. Though Lacec is working for the security of the market. They are also usurpating their power. I´ve personally been a victim of their excessiveness.

Ladipo Market is under the jurisdiction of Mushin LGA. (Forgive me if i´m wrong). The safety of lives and property of Nigerians in Ladipo market shouldn´t only rely on the care of Lacec, which i believe is simply a market union or a security outfit. Mushin LG. should have a hand into the pastry. Afterall, the build the roads and provide the condusive enveronment for the traders. They also collect taxes.

It´s true that hundreds of Lasec workers may fear of losing their jobs to another set of Yoruba guys, just like the traders may also feel unsafe leaving the investments of their lives into some people they don´t really trust.
But if the non-igbos in the market has trusted the leadership of Lacec all through the years. The igbos can also pay back that trust.
All they need is to negotiate with the Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki led group and find a way out..

  18. @hero you always handicap me unleashing my anger when I read your comments. You have to stop doing this o.
Anyway you must know what you are talking about.

  19. @ Prince Adu/ Tokyo: If truly you reside in Tokyo, what are you doing in another man’s country? Why don’t you go back to your country. In modern societies, democracy is the order of the day. Lapido market traders are not against the Alhaji being the Babaloja of the very market, but what they saying is that he should not be imposed on them, rather he should contest for that position. Imagine a situation where the Igbo control 99% of the cash inflow from the market to the deep pocket of the LASG, and you want the 1(one) percent population to lord it over 99 (ninety nine) percent. How logical could that be? The problem with Nigeria is that Nigerians are always on the opposite end of truth. If I must say, Yorubas are the problem with Nigeria. In many western countries, foreigners have being elected Councillors, Mayors, Governors, etc, If those hybrid- Tinubu/ Fashola and their cronies actually want the Igbo to leave the entire south-west, then, they must work hard to aid the division of Nigeria by 2015. So long Nigeria remains one, Nigerians are free to live, marry, develop, trade, do business, gather, associate and worship any where in that country, they deem fit. If, when, the SW becomes the Republic of Oduduwa, then, it can impose its laws on the Igbo, without interference. For now, Nigeria remains one country. Any infringements on the rights of Ndiigbo anywhere in Nigeria is violation of their fundamental human rights, that can be challenge in court, up to the International Court of Justice. I am beginning to question Fashola’s, SAN status. Ndiigbo can never be defeated by the Yoruba, God forbid. Therefore, we must take this fight to their doors. Victory is ours. Yorubas don’t feed us, we feed them. Well, one day, we shall see whose balls are harder between the Yoruba and Ndiigbo. My people, peace.

  20. I honestly do not understand why Igbos always play the tribal war when events do not suit them.
most of you wants to go abroad and when its time to make your country look like abroad you play either the victim or tribal drum.
In addition to what Prince Adu said above you are creating an atmosphere of hatred from others around yourselves but you forget you are minorities in those zones.
I am not advocating a situation where Nigerians are deporting Nigerians, however as a citizen you must abide by the rules and obedience to the order that your hosts are imposing.
As I have said before, the attitude and behaviour of a few can result in the condemnation of a whole.
When it does not suit you; you cry foul rightly or wrongly.

  21. Lets be frank here, tell me where any Igbo tribe, state or village ever honoured any Yoruba man. have you Igbos ever honoured any tribe outside of yours?

    • As for me , I don’t even want my people to be chairman of any where beside Igboland. They should come back home and put our place in order. Something must led them to realise their root. I love every development in the nation towards my people. It is an eye opener. Our region equally needs massive development . We have collectively built Lagos to our own detriment but God shall see us through.

  22. Lets be frank here, tell me where any Igbo tribe, state or village ever honoured any Yoruba man. have you Igbos ever honoured any Nigerian tribe outside of yours?
You must always play the victim, ndi ohi.
    Iran ki ran. (bad relatives)

    • Keep quiet , the one in my home town here in Owerri city is highly honoured. He is into regrinding of crankshaft engines and reboring. He is doing excellently well. Infact all his wards hardly visits home because we definitely see them as part of us. No one victimises any of his family members , he is also a chief here. The difference in contrast remains that they are few compared to our own people in Yorubaland .

  23. Hero I want u to know that u’re one of de few naija jews that I have great respect for cos of de way u view things most importantly when u’re making comments.two, it must be made know to who ever want to hear that, when u live in a foreign land u have to abide by ur host rule. If u can’t then u might as well pack ur things n leave to ur home . It must be noted that, in Yoruba land, we don’t use de percentage of market occupiers to detertmine who will be de iyaloja or babaloja. In )oruba land, this position is designed for Yorubas. However, in case an outsider is not happy about this setup, I think those people have de right to leave de area or move out of de place.afterall if u’re not happpy in any part of Nigeria as a free Nigerian u can as well move to other areas which u think will accommodate all ur needs.shikana.

  24. Last week some 67 south easterners were ‘deported’&dumped at Onitsha, now it is the imposition of another person to head a union that he is not a member,to the extent that someone could open his mouth to tell these traders to go back to there states.Fashola is trading on dangerous part&may ignite a flame even the UN,AU cannot quench. That the people of rivers states allowed themselves to be used&they claimed the property of igbos in rivers while other properties belongining to igbos elsewhere were untouched. It a clear truth now to everybody that Fashola has come to make late Awos use of hunger as weapon of war& 20pound policy after the war a fruition&reality.Lagos may turn to be a very big burial ground contain the igbos&yorubas alike. It is the likes of foolishmen that provoke inter-tribal&inter-communal wars.Yoruba leaders& elders should warn this man,to avoid a replay of Warri episode where the urhobos, ijaws&itsekiris were bathing themselves in their own blood. The Igbos cannot &must not leave LAGOS.I guess there are voices from north who want to use Fashola to put the yorubas&igbos against each other. There is no ethnic group that can put the Igbos into extinction. The ealier he rejects this voice the better.

  25. This is a sign that soon Nigeria as a country will be past tense. There is an adage that says, at times it is good for something to happen but not dead. What is happening in Egypt will be a catalyst of what will happen in Nigeria. Lagos Government recently is sowing a seed that will soon engulf the whole nation if not checked. It is never done or as was said let them have an election. Simple as ABC. Final word. Ndi Igbo it is high time we start relocating majority of our business to our own land. This country is no longer safe for us.

  26. There some Igbo people who are very hardworking and intelligent. But majority are those who are illiterates and get rich quick to build mansion in their villages at any cost. They come to your house as tenants, they either kill their Landlord by refusing to pay rent or take over your Property from you. There is no town or villages in Yoruba land they have not taken over. They have Never contributed anything good to where they make their money. For instance, an Igbo guy in Oshogbo who started handset business and later became the owner of massive shopping complex in Oshogbo was caught on CCTV camera robbing a 1st Generation bank in Ilesa where a lot of innocent people lost their lives.
For years, this guy was allowed to do business in Yoruba land, and his reward for Yoruba people was to unleash terror on the people thru incessant robbery operations and killing innocent people making blood money.

  27. Where is the animal governor of Abia state,TA Orji?I have every reason to address this man with a rude tongue,he is the worst governor that has ever ruled any state in Igboland. He should know that those people ‘deported’from Lagos are not all anambrarians, there are abia, imo, eboyi, akwa ibom etc.How can this tout governor muster courage to querry Fashola on his actions when he is runing the same type of policy on his blood brothers& sisters right inside igbo land. All attempts by OHANAEZE &his fellow igbo governors to this human disaster governor to drop& rescind his decision to sack some few igbos of other states in the pay roll of abia state government proved abortive.Right now he is battling with Imo state govt over the closure of the loading bay belonging his states transport company.Orji UZOR Kalu must get the lion share of the blame for foisting a convicted & irresponsible man on the good&responsible people abia state. How &where could we stand to challenge Fashola?Let me not be be misunderstood or seen to be overeacting if i should say,may any person/ politician or eye who would quickly notice our differences die a still birth or get blind. We are blessed and shall ever remain so. May people like TA Orji never near the mantle of leadership/ govt.house let alone occupying in it,in any state of igboland again.

  28. If I may ask, who is Alhaja Abibat Mogaji? to impose order in an Igbo market. Who is she? Is Ladipo market a women tomato sellers association market or Yaba market ? nobody should impose leaders of market to marketers rather they are the people to install their own choice of leadership not just one useless Ofemanu Yoruba power drunking person to come and claim that he was installed by one Mogaji. The marketers should defend themselves in anyway they can In case of any eventuality after all this is Nigeria and we all are one Nigeria. Every citizen have the right to live , trade or work in every part of the country without hindrance. The useless race is just lazy and that is what has been their problem since Independence. As for the Police Area Commander, he is a big fool and a coward to ask the Igbos to accept the useless Yoruba man as a leader or go back to their villages. He must be an insane Police officer because a normal thinking Police officer will never make such comment.

    • Softly softly please. Do not heat up the system with your language….Are sure the Yoruba race is lazy and useless. Mind you all of us do not have to abandon our vocations to pursue containers from China or Taiwan. Have you seen a fish survive outside water? A proof that every tribe has its own area of proficiency. If the average Yoruba man is not a trader in spare parts or electronics, it does not make him useless or lazy. We have the statistics of kidnapping, armed robbery, prostitution, 419 etc in the country… Those who live in glass house do not throw stone and whoever wants to come to equity should do so with clean hands. Thanks Vino Chris.

  29. While I do not support imposition of leaders on any group of people, I take serious objection to the attitude of the traders if it is true they vandalized properties. This issue has nothing to do with Awolowo or Fashola or Tinubu. We do not need to be too sensitive or overdramatize the issue. When are we going to put the war of over thirty years ago behind us. Every little disagreement between the Igbos and Yorubas is usually linked to that unfortunate event. Let someone tell me if any side can be exonerated from the war issue. Please enough is enough. All over the country including the southwest the Igbos do their businesses, pursue their careers and even intermarry unmolested. This is not a common feature elsewhere. I appeal that we should emphasize what will promote cohesion amongst us. If Alhaji Oki is not acceptable it is the inalienable right of people to protest. Name calling or falling on ethnic or primordial tendencies has no place in the matter. Let everyone embrace peace and keep the business going while we try to be law-abiding. This is how we can enjoy the best cooperation of the government. Calling Tinubu or Fashola or any Yoruba leader names is not the best thing to do as this does not portray us as being respectful to our elders. Once again, let there be peace!

    • Sola i think you are the only voice of reason around here. when some people want to get something and it is not possible for them to easily get it, they fall back to ethic sentiments. Remembering a long forgotten war that should be consigned to history.
If the market in question has a constitution, it should be followed strictly. If it has a provision for election, let everybody who is interested in the leadership of the market present himself for the election the person who wins should lead.
Again since the Igbo people are most in the market, it is natural that they will always have their own as the leader. If any other tribe is interested in the leadership, I believe it should only come through a political agreement. It will be very difficult for 10% to suppress 90% no matter on whose territory the fight is on.
Any ways, we are talking about yoruba and the igbos. what about the hausas, edolites, efiks and other tribes in the market. are they not supposed to contribute their quota in the leadership of the market?
Let us forget about all these tribal sentiments and be wise enough to know that in this country, our destinies have been so entwined that no section can easily move ahead without each other.
I cant imagine myself going to lagos with a passport or visa. Tufiakwa! God forbid.
when these big men want something, they psych people up with premodial sentiments but when they get it, they all go to sheraton and dubai to celebrate together forgeting those people they call their tribesmen.
      Let us be wise.
      thank you sola.

  30. Good talk @sola akinwande I know Yoruba are very well educated race in Nigeria and I believe people like you are expected to be commenting in matters like this because you spoke the truth and I regret calling people or race useless here. I salute again as you said it all. May GOD bless u.

    • I appreciate you indeed. we shall all live long to see a united country regardless of our differences that the great Zik asked us to recognize in other to be able to relate well with ourselves. The labors of our heroes past will not be in vain. God bless you my dear brother. Igbo Kwenu , Kwenu .

  31. @kola Amodu You can only impose such leaders in a Yoruba market, plank markets and other tomato and meat markets in Lagos and not strictly an Igbo market which majority in the market are 99% Igbos. Tell me how can such leadership work or stand ? you can only rule your own and not another people. Please if you don’t know what to say in this matter I guess you keep silent because your contribution make no sence at all. Anyway I can view from your previous comments that you are core a Yoruba man no wonder !

  32. To u igbo guys that are outside igboland,i have few advice for u,be law abiding, respect ur hosts,i did not say fear him.Be ready to challenge him if he endeavours to encroach in ur rights.A visible enemy is better than a terrorist. This cannot be another north.Wars cannever be fought in igboland again,it will start from other places. That place u are right now is ur home, defend it with everything possible. If u do not have the liver to do this, relocate to east. The reason for all these enviousness is ur ability to conquer any enviroment economically.U can create something out of nothing. Our home base is open to every tribe to come & conquer.

  33. ♍γ̲̣̣̥ people why are U̶̲̥̅̊ guys quarreling? I A̶̲̥̅♏ running ♍γ̲̣̣̥ Farm in Imo state & nobody Ȋ̝̊̅§ harrassing ♏ε̲̣̣̣̥! Pls Igbos come back oh! They begged ♏ε̲̣̣̣̥ †̥o stay in Kwara State I told them NO! They offered acres of Land MBA oh!
Come home Niggros we can handle those chanllenges! If as a woman I can deal with them what about Full Grown Guys? Come Come brothers!

  34. Ejike new York if u are truly an igbo man I want to hear from you on this issue, please keep sentiment away from this, owerri have spoken, okoh have spoken am looking up to u if u are truly an igbo man, last time I told u people that fashola is wicked to igbos but some of u are yet to believe d fact, I want to ask that man in lagos house of assembly what is he doing there if he is not ready to die for d igbos? lacec do all within your power to resist that fasholas imposition, there is one morol that claim to be eze igbos in lagos what is that idiot doing there? Lacec resist that fasholas imposition.

  35. A house divided can never stand. I was at Ladipo market last year, I saw some hefty men with cutlass harassing everyone in sight. When I asked what is happening, I was told that they where hire by the leader of Market (an Igbo man) who is also fighting with another Igbo trader over the leadership of the Market.
This problem I am told caused a lot of problem that prompted the state governor to lock up the market for months.
The market was re-opened later after much pleading to the state government. Now, if an Igbo cannot be a leader and a Yoruba man cannot be a leader, will GOD come down from heaven to lead the Ladipo traders.
Let us drop sentiment and also stop beating this war drums and do a soul searching, are not the cause of our problem ???.
It is wrong for a serving police office to make the said comment accredited to the area commander, and I am using this medium to appeal to the police high command to verify if such comment really came out from a police office, if it is true, the office should be release of his duty immediately because he can fire at an Igbo man for a little provocation. IF HE HAS NOT KILL SOME BEFORE.

  36. We have a court of law, if the traders did not want Alhaji Oki, I think they are capable of hiring a SAN to handle the matter for them.
Finally for any IGBO MAN to think he is wiser than other tribe, I think that person is leaving in dream land.
Yes , check out the people you claim to be wiser than and see how they have arranged there selves and then check we the wise IGBOS how our states and governor and leaders are doing. You can give the result yourself.
YES we are the offspring of Isreal, others are left in Gabon and Zambia but our major problem is that our leaders have made us a slave, then we are transferring aggression.

  37. If govt can build SEA PORT and AIR PORT in ONITSHA for we TRADERS,anybody that sees my Goods get cleared in lagos PORT should CEASE it..infractructures should be unbiasely distributed to the six GEOPOLITICAL ZONES of the COUNTRY..thats what is attracting the IGBOS to lagos state that was built by SOUTH EAST OIL WEALTH.

  38. The Yorubas against Igbonization Lagos can go to hell.

Igbos must confront ill treatment, discrimination and humiliations that they suffer in Nigeria. And that is to defend by any means necessary the artificial one- Nigerianism as long as the project called Nigeria whether in truth or in falsehood continues to emphasize that we are one Nigeria. Igbos must be prepared to either effectively relocate to the East when and if it becomes necessary or they must stand their ground, defend and protect themselves by any means when and if it become necessary to do so. Every part of Nigeria is Nigeria and Igbos, rich and poor like any other group has the constitutional right to live everywhere anywhere within the Nigeria territory.

Great men, nations are neither made from among the timid, the weakling, the peaceable, the pacifist nor from among the awols. Rather great men and nations are made from among the fearless, the courageous and from among those who would stand their ground when ordinary men and nations takes flight. So, as long as the song of one Nigeria mantra is being sang Igbos must prepare selves to defend in Lagos, Kano, north, south, east, and west, this none melodic but empowering song of One Nigerianism.

Today Nigerians are assigned citizenship or indigene-ship base on tribe, language, and or on the divisive indigenous laws in the states that says an Igbo man born in Lagos state is not an indigene of the state just because he has an Igbo blood even if he neither speaks Igbo nor ever set foot on south east soil. If Kaduna Nzeogwu was correctly seen and identified as a Nigerian first, a northerner second and may be, may be as an Igbo third, the July 1966 revenge coup, the pogrom that followed culminating to the fratricidal civil of 1967 to 1970 would have been completely averted. QED

In Nigeria today nobody knows the indigene-ship or state citizenship of a Nigerian with Igbo father, Hausa mother and Hausa paternal grandfather and Yoruba paternal great grandfather. The confusion in the citizenship of this individual is because unlike most country in the world where residency and individual volition are the bases for assigning state, regional, provincial citizenship, Nigeria uses tribe, language, and or paternity to assign citizenship. The oddity and absurdity of this Nigeria system is that it fosters divisiveness among the citizenry; it makes a Nigerian a stranger in his or her home country if he or she speaks, and or possesses a genome that is not local or indigenous to his or her place of residence.

This strict ethnic classification in Nigeria is principally responsible for persistent mistrust, disunity, rivalry, wars, tribal conflicts, and pogrom in the Nigeria society. If every Nigeria living in the north receives and possesses sense of citizen; sees self as a Nigeria first and a north seconds the Boko Haram threat that ordered southerners to leave north would have been senseless and laughable. If every Nigeria living in the north receives and possesses sense of citizenship they would neither yield to tribally charged threats nor indulge in mass exodus to the south for safety. Our leaders have for long encourage these divisions among the citizenry because it is good politics of divide and conquer. I therefore call on the national assembly to seize the opportunity afforded by the ongoing constitutional amendment to address and redefine citizenship appropriately; citizenship that is base on residency and not on tribe, language, paternity or genome.

Fact is that Lagos is a Nigeria territory and is for every Nigerian if the Yorubas don’t like it then they can do one of two things secede from the federation or shot up their shogbo mouth and go to hell.

  39. LOts of hot air and little light. Kudos to Hero, evans and others like them. We need more people like u in Nigeria who are not swayed by d noise of the riotous crowd
