Jibril Aminu flays Governors’ Forum

Senator Jibril Aminu, yesterday described the Nigerian Governors’ Forum as strange and an instrument of oppressing the Federal Government and the people. Aminu made the remark at a media briefing, organised by the Adamawa Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Yola.

“It is very strange. I worked in many countries and have not seen anything like such a forum. The Governors’ Forum is what is used to oppress everybody, including the president,” Aminu said. He said the forum always ensured that state governors had their way in everything, including nominating who became an ambassador or member of the National Assembly.

“I don’t know how the forum came about in this country. And if it is not checked, it will put the country in serious troubl,” Aminu said. He called for the application of internal democracy in the running of the political parties. He cautioned against the politics of sentiments and stressed that the introduction of sentiments in the nomination of candidates would bring about tyrants in public office.

Aminu protested against the intervention of Governor Sule Lamido committee in the crisis in Adamawa PDP and said he had no confidence in the choice of Lamido, because of his relationship with Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa.

    • Wale January 2, 2013 at 2:05 am

Southerners tried that before in United States; the northerners won, they keep the states united.
United States is stronger and better because of that union today. the separation is not working well in Sudan either, check before posting rubbish.

Wale you are lying Please stop decieving Nigerian people,we from the East are irrivocably committed in separating from the rest and Nigeria can never work as long as our heart is not with you murderers that killed 5 million of our people in a genocide you called civil war.Today all the countries and key actors that fought against us have died tragically like Murtala,Abacha,Yaradua,Useni,Bisala,Shua,Vatsa, etc.Three more to go,we are waiting to see how they will end very soon, this country can never know peace or development if the spirits of our women and children murdered are not atoned but today the ethnic group that are benefiting from the oil money can tell us about the need to live together as long as they are benefiting.

Jubril Aminu should blame his party PDP that introduced the party’s elected governors as the leaders in their respective states, the party should be superior to the governors to give them proper checks and balances from the party secretariat in the states.
There will be no internal democracy if the governors continue to be leaders of the party because they have resources to fight the party executives at their secretariats.
PDP is the problem Nigerians should do away with come elections 2015.

Dele Odugbemi you talk as a fool you are, is the party superior to the governors in ACN.

Mr Ashiwaju-d-whatever, d guy u castigated seed more informed& well manered than u are. Infact ur name suggest everything about u.
In as much I don’t have anything against d governors forum so far it will be use for noble cause d reality on ground is dat our governors are tunning to terror& tin god in their enclaves. How can d governor be more important than d platform he rode to power, knowing fully well there is no room for independent candidature in Nigeria electoral system.
When dis governors were seeking their parties governorship tickets, they were obedient& defered to elders in d parties, but immediately they assumed power they turned into giant terrors.
I want a situation where there will be organ under party control to monitor& call governors to order whenever they transgressed. Governorship is not atavistic kingship position where citizens are look down on as subjects who must obey d king whether they like it or not.
This country must change& for d change to come about we need to change our orientations about leadership, citizenship& stewardship.

Very soon Allah will destroy all Hausa foolani people in Nigeria

  15. Ahmed January 2, 2013 at 11:02 pm

Oh God, kindly separate this nation called Nigeria so that everyone will go his separate way. Let the Igbos go back to there father land as well Yaruba,Ijew etc. Cos I believe that will be the only solution to this insecurity. I believe no matter how bad the north is,will be far better than the south.
