Gov Wada in coma after auto crash

• ADC dies on the spot

Tragedy struck Kogi State yesterday as the convoy of Governor Wada Idris was involved in a fatal auto crash. In the accident, Governor Wada was critically wounded and went into coma, while his Aide de Camp (ADC), Mohammed Idris, died on the spot.

According to an eyewitness account, the governor was returning from the annual Igala education summit, in Ayingba, when the front tyre of his vehicle burst and pulled off at Emi Woro village, between Prime Polytechnic and Salem University, about 12 kilometres to Lokoja, the state capital.

The vehicle somersaulted severally. Rescue operation started immediately and the injured governor was moved by an ambulance to the state’s specialist hospital in Lokoja, where medical personnel battled to save his life. Thereafter, he was transferred to an Abuja hospital in a helicopter, where plan was being finalised to fky him abroad last night. Sources said Wada sustained serious head injuries, which caused him going into coma. Also, he sustained leg injuries in the crash.

His thigh was said to have pulled off. Immediately news of the accident hit town, top government functionaries and sympathisers trooped to the Kogi Specialist Hospital, where the governor was first taken. Security personnel had however, cordoned off the hospital, to prevent access to him. Confirming the incident, in a press statement, the state Commissioner of Information, Yabaji Bologi, said the governor was in stable condition. He confirmed that the governor had gone to declare open the annual Igala education summit at the state’s university in Ayingba.

The governor’s accident is coming barely two weeks after former governor of Kaduna State, Chief Patrick Yakowa; ex-National Security Adviser, General Andrew Azazi and four others lost their lives in a helicopter crash at Nembe, Bayelsa State.

I have no tear to shed for any of these Politicians, I will save my tears for the oppressed, for the Boko Haram and Kidnapped victims. I will save my pain for the Pensioners dying of hunger and the accident victims on the bad roads. Yoruba will say Seka Seka a fi pupo se ara e (a wicked person stands to harvest the greater portion of his wickedness). Nigerian politicians are reprobate souls who are incapable of repentance and as mean as this may sound, they deserve no mercy because they are wicked and merciless crop of criminals. It was just last week that this same Governor convoy going at high speed killed a poor soul and you would have thought that would be a ear pulling warning for him but no. No Governor deserves blasting of Siren and speeding like a demon possessed spirit than Fashola of Lagos State considering the madness of Lagos Roads but you will never see him in unnecessarily long convoy or blaring siren. According to Fashola in one of the interviews, he said it is very unfair for a taxpayer to pay for a chauffeur driven air conditioned car for a government official and same would be oppressing and chasing the taxpayer (who might be in a jalopy, weather beaten, stuffy vehicle) off the road. Nigerian politician can simply not learn and their pride, ego, selfishness and greed will always lead to their downfall. How long would it take them to know that the God of the poor, fatherless, widow and widowers have arisen to fight for his own? If these Politician are capable of learning, aren’t they supposed to have learnt from, Chime, Imoke, Suntai, Yakowa, Azazi etc? I know that even if 99% of them died today, the remaining 1% would still not change because they have sold their souls to the Devil.

As humans, we must sympathize with one another when misfortune strikes no mater what the victim must have committed b/c no body is immune to misfortune. Gov Idris, accept my sympathy. God in his infinite mercy will heal you. I wish u quick recovery.

    • peter omelazu December 29, 2012 at 11:28 am

You are wrong ,Chima in your generalization of calamity. The God that I serve says that sorrow and misfortune will be far away from me.He said he would send his Angels to guide me in all my ways if I put my trust in his name. The same God says that with my ear would I hear the recompense of the wicked. There is no where in the scripture God promised sorrow and misfortune to his children, rather to the wicked. Therefore,I and my family we are under divine protection of” Pillar of Shield.” and Might one of Israel.Jehovah Yahweh.

Though i align with some comments from the Compatriots on this forum, especially that of Olaseni Sobande.
It was wickedness on the side of the Governor’s convoy not to condole with the family of person killed by his overzealous and crazy drivers and curses from the bereaved family must have resulted to this catastrophe he suffered now.
Nobody is above the laws of God almighty even though Nigerian leaders are above the laws of land. A saying goes thus, you will reap what you sow.
I wish the injured governor and others quick recovery.

  8. Chris Onyishi December 29, 2012 at 5:07 am

When in every 4 comments out of 5 concerning a mishap to a ruler or a leader is celebrating the misfortune, then the ruling class or the leading class should think twice.

There is no doubt that people are not happy. And this is climaxing in a “Goodluck” and “Breathe of fresh air and transformation” regime.

  9. Eaves dropper December 29, 2012 at 5:57 am

It seems as if the mantle of misfortune has fallen on the governors.Enugu state gov is sick,Cross River state gov is not feeling fine,Imo state gov has just been involved in an accident,Former Kaduna state gov Yakowa died recently. Some months ago Edo state gov’s convoy was involved in an accident that led to the death of some journalists.Since Taraba state gov’s private jet crashlanded,we have not heard anything about him. Now,it has got to the turn of Kogi state governor. Why all these misfortunes?is it because these governors cannot be kidnap or adultnap easily? These so call governors should repent and fulfil their promises they made when they were campaning or else… Hun.. hun.. hun.. hun i rest my case and i wish the governors involved quick recovery in JESUS Name Amen.

GOD is angry with our leaders,if they turn back from their if evil one by one,GOD will pay them in their coins,a word is a enough for the wise.

  11. penmight December 29, 2012 at 6:07 am

Let me borrow from Olaseni Sobande’s adage ‘seka seka afi eyi topo se ara e’. These wicked leaders believe they are doing us (the masses) any good when they were asked to repair road which they pay litttle or no attention to. I know for sure that that accident was as a result of bad or deteorating of Okenne/Lokoja roads. That is why, when you see them (governors) tarred or repair five kilometers road, they go on air priding as if it is their money they used. They think because they have money to pay for flight, they have othing to do with the road. Now that the flight have started crash landing, they are now running back to the road they abandoned. The rejected stone has now turn to corner stone. To hell with them and their household. Olori buruku gbogbo. And for unpopular SAN Fashola, he has not done anything specular for Lagos state. He repairs roads and ban some set of people which their tax payed is part of the money used in repairing the road. People are compeled to pay for toll before they are allowed to ply the ‘Fashika’ reconstructed. But Jakande, Gen Marwa constructed roads and never ban people from people from using them neither anyone to for any toll. Jakande, Marwa and other past governors apart from Tinubu built schools. But Fashola renovated schools built by his predecessors.

In 2007, it was election petition tribunal and supreme court that unseated many state govs, senators and houses of assemblies but now it is the law of CAMA very soon the ALMIGHTY GOD will intervene in our situation. Politicians be warn!

  16. val December 29, 2012 at 8:28 am

This is just a sign and warning to all our leaders that nobody is above God

  17. Egbe December 29, 2012 at 8:35 am

Thunder has started firing them one by one. Q Chima, go to hell with ur sympathy. God has no sympathy to evil rulers, go and ask Pharaoh of Egypt. The road they refuse to construct will always drink their blood and the private jet they buy now will always dig their graves….So be it written, so be it done….no remorse!

  18. Owerri December 29, 2012 at 9:33 am

What kind of speed will a governor and his convoy can apply to an extent that will claim a life and that of the gov being in suspicions?Nigeria leaders should turn to a better leave. Can u see the reasons to fix a motorable road networks in the country? Private jets will only compound these problems reason because of our attitude to maintainance culture.

  23. MAXNOVO of UYO December 29, 2012 at 1:49 pm

Brethren ! Who among US that thinks he can fulfill the heart desire of everyone let him be the first to pray for WADAS’ dead. Why do we think that the governors (some, not all) are the reason for our poor states? How many of us lambasting, would stumble on a lady’s nudity and would not have sincere are you to even your blood brothers at home? Remember the governors are ruling with senseless people who are more selfish than the leaders themselves.I bet! You all are not better than the governors in human sympathy so cryless! think of what to do to help yourself, its only God that should judged.

  33. Idy Salem December 30, 2012 at 12:32 am

    @Saidu Salihu
Does your comment not make you a fool? You play into religion when people are discussing social issues. What has religion got to do with d subject matter? anyway, let me not blame u, it’s d mentality of an African Muslim; who behaves as if there’re no muslims in other parts of d world

  34. Oduduwa December 30, 2012 at 7:57 am

Why do we always mix religion with Science. I pity my people because they have been Brainwashed to always believe that whatever things that happen is an Art of God. If we don’t probe into our past, we will not move forward. I believe the Governor uses one of the graded Car manufacture by the car company and sold for Millions. first question we should ask is, What speed are they Travelling before the accident? Q2 What will make an high graded car of such for Tyre to remove? Q3 Did they Buy the Car as TOKUNBO or Belgium or fairly used? Q4 When last was the Car Serviced? Q5 How Bad was the Road at the spot of the accident?. I hope somebody is somewhere to answer this Almighty Question. Our Leaders, times without number communicate or publicize to us not to exceed speed limit of 100 KPH, then, if 100 KPH SPEED limit has been exceeded, the Governor in is sick Bed should be sue to court for attempted SUICIDE. E.T.C. After all this question have been answered and none is violated then we can say “This is an art of GOD”.
