Bauchi based youth soccer outfit, Yuguda United has vowed to make Nigeria proud in this year’s edition of Spain’s friendship Cup billed to run from October 19 to 24 in the city of Costa Brava.
Daily Sunsports gathered from organizers of the tournament that Yuguda United has completed its registration for the tournament which attracts youth teams from different parts of the world.
Bauchi state sports commissioner, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Lassi who is leading the team to the tournament told Daily Sunsports that the youth soccer outfit which is being bankrolled by the state government would do the country proud in Spain.
In the words of the sports commissioner: “We are taking the team out to Spain in a bid to give the boys the needed exposure in an international setting. Our desire is to see the boys rise to international stardom in the near future. We hope the boys will do well in Spain. Our target is to do Nigeria proud by winning the Friendship Cup.”
Lassi commended the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Yuguda, for investing in the youths of the state and paying good attention to grassroots sports development.
The Nigerian representatives of the organizers of the Spain friendship cup, Serahana Sports company disclosed that Yuguda United has fully entered for the tournament which is approved by the Catalana Football Federation (FCF).
Serahana’s spokesman Newman Ekadi further disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) have endorsed Yuguda United’s participation in the tournament.
“The Costa Brava Friendship Cup is one of Europe’s premier international youth tournaments approved by Federatio Catalana Futbol (Catalana Football Federation) in Spain. The tournament attracts soccer academies , feeder teams of pro clubs, junior national teams and U-13 to U-19 youth teams.
We are happy Yuguda United has fully registered to participate and has been invited to be part of the soccer fiesta by the organizers. Yuguda United’s trip has the blessing of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON),” Ekadi stated.
It would be noted that Serahana Sports was the outfit that facilitated the participation of Amuneke’s Soccer Academy in the recently concluded Iber Cup in Estoril, Portugal, with the Nigerian side lifting the trophy.
