It was double fun and excitement for consumers of premium lager beer, Star, in the ancient city of Benin, capital of Edo State, as they were recently treated to music, comedy and mouth-watering prizes. The occasion was the draws for the on-going Star Time To Shine Promo.
The event, which had Tinsel actor, Gideon Okeke as anchorman was held at the bubbling Aso Time Groove Bar with live music from Crystals, winners of Star Quest 2012 and comedy from a host of comedians including Gandoki, MC Ecstacy, MC Paparazzi and MC Alomano among others. The night kicked off with draws to select winners in the promo. It was an exciting affair as Gideon Okeke invited members of the audience to select winners of prizes via electronic raffle draw. Apart from 32” LCD televisions, cash prizes of N20, 000 and N50, 000 respectively, there were also brand new Toyota Corolla cars won by Ese Okarei and Odachi Augustine Okoh.
Osa Oniomo, winner of the dancing competition smiled home with a brand new Samsong Galaxy phone while the other dancers got consolation prizes for their efforts. The exciting choreography from lead singers, Atinuke Afolaya and Civian Obehi, as well as the impressive stagecraft of rapper, Romeo Ukwudike delighted the audience. However, the high point of the day was the comedy performances from the various comedians.
First to step on the stage was Gandoki. He did his reputation no harm as he sent the audience reeling with laughter with his repertoire of hilarious jokes. Up next was MC Ecstasy who kept the audience entertained with his funny jokes. So also was MC Alomino. But then the star of the day was MC Paparazi, the fast rising Edo State-based comedian. His costume alone was laughter inducing.
When he was done with his performance, the audience was convinced that a new star had been born in Nigerian comedy industry. The Benin leg was the fourth draw to be conducted since the Star Time To Shine Promo kicked off. Enugu, Lagos and Port Harcourt were the venues for previous draws of the promo. The next edition comes up in Abuja where Star will entertain revelers with more music and comedy even as more winners will be revealed.
