By Chris Iwarah

Delta State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed the intention of members of Labour Party (LP), Accord Party (AP) and other political groups to join it to form a more formidable opposition in the state.
At a meeting of APC held in Warri at the weekend, it was gathered, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2015 governorship election in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor briefed the state executive committee of the party of his meeting with Chief Great Ogboru of LP and Victor Ochei of AP, where they agreed on the need to forge a stronger opposition in the state ahead of the 2019 general election.
The SEC of APC in Delta, it was learnt, unanimously approved the plan by the leaders and members of LP and AP in the state to join the party.
The leadership of APC in the state subsequently inaugurated a nine-member committee led by Mr. Fred Onokor Okpohworo to interface with the leadership of all the political parties, groups and individuals willing to join the APC in Delta and work out the modalities for a successful grand reception for them.
Emerhor urged members of the party to be more committed to the change agenda of APC and embark on a vigorous membership drive, assuring that the party’s doors were open to new members. He insisted that repositioning the party in the state required increased membership, reminding APC members that politics was a game of number.
Member of APC Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, also urged the leaders and members of the party in the state to be more united.
He reminded the meeting, which was also attended by the state Chairman of APC, Prophet Jones Erhue, Deputy Chairman, Dr. Cyril Ogodo, Sir Olisaemeka Akamukale, the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the 2015 general election, Chief VOT Abanum, Pastor Power Ziadeke Aghinighan and Chief Solomon Edeoja, that the strength of any political party was in its unity.
