Varsity worker to die by hanging for killing admission seeker

… 2 jailed 113 yrs for kidnapping

From PAUL OSUYI, Asaba

A 27-year-old clerical staff of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, David Wonder Erhirhie is to pay the supreme price for killing an admission seeker, Princess Chinonso Ijezie in 2009. The Delta State High Court sitting at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area of the state sentenced the convict to death by hanging.

The court found the convict guilty of killing the deceased, an offence punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C. 21 Laws of Delta State, 2006. Delivering judgement, the court said the prosecution was able to prove beyond all reasonable doubts, ingredients of the offence of murder and sentenced him in accordance with the law. “The punishment for a crime of this magnitude is death penalty. This accused person does not deserve less.

I hereby sentence you to death by hanging at the neck until you be dead. May God have mercy upon your soul,” the court held. Prosecution had called six witnesses during trial, which lasted for over two years while the accused testified for himself. The convict, until the incident was a clerical staff of the provost office of the university, a position he was allegedly using to carry out series of failed admission racketeering. In the instant case, he was said to have collected the sum of N155,000 from the late Princess Ijezie to assist her secure admission into DELSU from a private university in Edo State where the deceased was already running a program.

But the convict could not secure the admission and in a bid to cover up his track, he lured the deceased to his house under the pretence of refunding the money. The convict, however murdered the admission seeker and buried her remains in a shallow grave close to his house before nemesis caught up with him. Meanwhile, two persons including one David Erutere (31) and Sunday Omamuzo Ukaikwo have been sentenced to 113 cumulative years imprisonment with hard labour by a Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba for kidnapping and armed robbery.

The convicts were found guilty of the charges preferred against them which include conspiracy to commit felony to wit: kidnap, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit felony to wit: armed robbery. They were also accused of demanding property with menace. The offences are contrary to Section 6 (b) and punishable under Section 1 (2a) of the Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R II Volume 14 Laws of the Federation, 2004.

David Erutere, who hails from Ekrakra in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state was sentenced to 45 years in jail for conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery while they both got 7 years imprisonment each for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, 3 years imprisonment each for demanding property with menace and another 10 years each for kidnapping. Sunday Ukwaikwo, who claimed to be a farmer and a native of Olomoro in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state was slammed with 25 years imprisonment for armed robbery.

The convicts had conspired to kidnap and rob one Irikefe Edafe and Egwu Johnbull of their valuables including a Pathfinder Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), GSM handsets, Laptop, wedding rings and cash on two separate occasions in June 2011 at Delta Palace Road, Warri and Ubiaruku respectively and demanded a ransom of N50 million from their families before they could be released.

Sunday Ukwaikwo, who was apprehended by men of the State Security Services (SSS) while trying to pick-up the agreed ransom, later led security agents to the house of his partner in crime.

Mr John Yakubu Yusufu should be facing stricter punishment, as his act has lead to many pensioners to their death. It’s high time ‘pen robbers’ started paying ultimate penalty, forfeit all their loots / embezzled and making their family pay for execution process. And probably make them witness the execution or sent the record of execution proceeding to their next of kin.

JUDGES IN DELTA STATE ARE BECOMING POSITIVELY AGGRESSIVE IN THE WAY THEY HANDLE CRIME CASES UNLIKE IN THE PAST WHEN CULPRITS ARE GIVEN LIT SENTENCE MAY YAKUBU CASES SHOULD BE TRANSFERED TO DELTA STATE.

Good judgement for sentencing the idiot to death by hanging, unlike that bribe taker, justice Talba who sentence pension thief to 2 year imprisonment with option of #750,000 fine.

The Judiciary is finally rising up to its constitutional responsibility.

That is a good judgement from a conscientious judge. Not a corrupt judge as in John Yusuf case. It is a sign of hope for a common man.

The igbos remains forever greater than hausas in all indices except: homosexuality which is a cultural heritage so common, 12 milion wasted and useless almajiri boys that eats from the gutter, infant mortatility, secret prostitution approved by their religion, world highest divorce rate esp kano state, 2nd highest disabled people population after india, the world highest female illiterates after afghanistan, a great hub of shoe shiners, water sellers meruwa, world largest concentration of beggers by a single tribe, a high rate of un reported ritual killing esp during their fasting period, tribe with the highest rate of prostitution in arab world esp in saudi arabia, child sex and abuse, hub for VVF, world most reported distributor of polio, the most illiterate tribe in nigeria. etc, Go to the east and see that your people are the poorest of the poor:selling sweet, gworo, ciga, shoe maker, maigad, beggers in every corners and churches, fetching water, all kind of menial jobs. But check out all your towns and cities and villages and see what an average igbo man is in your place. THEY ARE FAR AHEAD OF YOU. They live in a better houses than you, built their own private sch for their children to attend, have their own stores and your children still serve them. Stop envying the igbos. Without producing the president and been not in federal civil service, they are forever greater than hausas. THE MORE YOU HATE THEM, KILL, ABUSE, AND INSULT THEM, THE MORE THEY GROW STRONGER. Think of this, there is difference between the Arabs and Jews. Jews will forever dominate the arab world, so shall the igbos jews dominate over you because you have the heart and sense of a Cow.

Emeka, being Hausa is one and being a muslim is another. For your information, Sir there are christians, muslims and pagans among Hausa. So it will not be appropriate to equate Hausa and their habits to Islam.

Thank u Emeka, the fool failed to understand that without Igbos today,Nigeria especially d northern part is nothing,if he doubts, why did his fool elder brodas refused Biafrans freedom. He talks like a shoe shinner,a water fetcher,a dusbin packer,a begger in the street,a fool at fourty,a boko haram sponsor,a coup plotter,a disabled aboki and a back yard commercial sex worker. He should be careful if not d wrat of Igbo ancestors will first catch up wt him and he will be the first to pay d due price dey deserve. Anumanu!

Emeka, thanks for your indept analysis of the progress of the Igbo race to that cow called babauhumairah. I can’t say much to him any more. You said all that need to be said. Just as you said they dont’t go to school, it is evident in his of verbs. He should go to school to learn the use of tenses for first and second persons singular and plural. Once again, thanks for comment well articulated.

To reduce criminal activities and curb curruption, the Jonathan administration should declare amnesty for all nigerians including the President; and thereafter stipulate death sentence for corruption cases in excess of N1m and 10 yrs jail term for below. There is no pooverty in Nigeria as far as I know. The only challenge is that a few mad people with access to govenment fund accumulate such funds and stack same in overseas accounts and acquire property home and abroad that even their 50th generation cannot exhaust at the expense of the masses. Why will a civil servant, lecturer, public servant suddenly acquire properties worth millions of naira without anybody questioning his/her means of income. or send his or her children to school abroad without questioning? how much are they paid. We need no expert to know thieves in nigeria. Look at Mobil filling station at Waterlines in PHC and host of petro stations in PHC with adjusted pump price. You buy N5000 worth of fuel and the actual fuel you get is equivalent of N3000. Where is the PPRA task force? Government both at state nad federal level needs to be decisive and do what is right. So long as the wicked continues to rule this nation, sound of groanings will not cease.

Wonders shall never end! So igbo peopl are too develop and richer as you claimed fool? Hahahahahaha! A richer society but they don’t hav Dangote,Dangote alone is equivalent to whole igboland,a richer society but there’s no single international Airport, while we in kano hav our own since 1920,a richer society but my state kano pass the whole igboland, when forbest list the African billionaires, the following names appear in the list:Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu,Ty Danjuma, muhammadu inndimi,Adenuga,Hakeem osagie obas, but unfortunately, there’s no chukwu,Emeke, chinoso why? History shows that,no igboman that can be succesful in life except if he has a northern connection i.e born or grown up in northern region, the following names are my witness if i lie: Ikemba of Nnewi eze 1 ndigbo gburu gburu, Nnamdi azikiwe,Cyprian ekwensi,Chinua achebe,Rochas Okorocha,Frank nwekwe jnr etc. Lucky 4 them as they born or grown up in north, they wil hav now been the gang leaders of robbers
