Triumphant Eagles storm Abuja in charter flight

The victorious national football team, Super Eagles’ contingent will depart Johannesburg today and land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in the afternoon.

Nigeria lifted Africa’s most prestigeous marble on Sunday night with a one-goal defeat of first-time finalists Burkina Faso at an animated National Stadium in Soweto. Two earlier wins in 1980 and 1994 were foreseen as the country presented strong, experienced squads seen as favourites for those championships.

But the Class of 2013, in the full flow of a re-building process, and with 17 of the 23 players never having played at a Cup of Nations, stunned the world and captivated Africa.

Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who worked assiduously with the NFF’s top echelon to accomplish the glorious outing, will lead the Nigeria delegation of players, officials, NFF President, NSC Management, NFF Executive Committee Committee members and Management, NSC and NFF staff, stakeholders, media representatives and members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, from the O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Officials confirmed on Monday that the players and officials will be driven into the Abuja metropolis in a motorcade, straight to the Presidential Villa, where President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR will host the team to a Grand State Reception and reward players and officials.

The president should give them a meritorious award and an honor well deserved. Nothing is too big for them for achieving this great feat after nineteen years.

They deserve rewards. But I must remind everyone, and authorities to be cautious of the BOKO-HARAM, because they don not like good things. Let every proactive action be taken, and police fully prepared.

Super Eagles will depart Tambo Airport, Soweto to Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja on a chartered flight. What about Nigeria Airways?, because many poor countries in Africa have their own Airlines.
