Soldiers take over Aluu community

From CHRIS ANUCHA, Port Harcourt

Soldiers have taken over Aluu community, where four students of the University of Port Harcourt, were murdered in cold blood last Friday.
This is even as residents of Omuokiri are counting losses, following the violent protest, which swept across the area on Tuesday.

The protest was staged by students from the South-South and South- East zones, under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), their anger was over the murder of their colleagues.

When Daily Sun visited Omuokiri community yesterday morning, many police patrol vehicles were stationed at strategic positions or moving round the village. Stern-looking security men, that included men of State Security Service (SSS) were everywhere, to avoid a repeat of the indent of the previous night, where over 30 vehicles and no fewer than seven buildings were set ablaze by the angry students.
But later in the evening, there was deployment of more soldiers to the community, which had already been deserted by the residents to evade arrest.

According to a source, the deployment of more soldiers to the community was to complement the efforts of policemen to forestall more protests and destruction of property.

In the afternoon, policemen from the River State command visited the burrow pit cum dumpsite, the spot where the students met their untimely death. They were seen removing disused tyres and other objects they suspected were used in killing the students.

Five more suspects arrested in the vicinity yesterday afternoon were seen being forced into police patrol vehicle.
Students living in the community were also seen moving out, while many shops and buildings were under lock and key.

Some residents who remained in doors were observed peeping from the windows.

Tension in the area is palpable, while some people who summoned courage to stay back were seen in groups discussing what befell the community in the past five days.

At the University of Port Harcourt, students were seen leaving in large numbers, after the institution was shut down indefinitely on Tuesday by the school authorities, when the students’ protest turned violent.
A large number of them also besieged the banks in the area, trying to withdraw money to enable them to travel home, pending when the closure order would be lifted.

Giving insight into the event of Tuesday, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbualam, said the police acted swiftly to move the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Joseph Ajienka, to safety.

He said security agents in the state were also working hard to ensure that the crisis did not escalate beyond what had been witnessed in the past days.
Ugwuegbulam also appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that peace was restored in Aluu and its environs.

Meanwhile, an on-line report raised the fear about the condition of mother of Ugonna Kelechi Obuzor, the second year Geology student who was brutally murdered alongside his friends Lloyd Toku, Chinadikobi Biringa and Tekena Elkanah.
The unconfirmed report said Ugonna’s mother was overwhelmed by the shock of her son’s death.

May their souls rest in peace. God! It was gruesome. I pray that the real perpetrators are fished out and publicly cooked to death. Their parents should also be made to watch them die and denied right of burial. Even if the killed students were guilty of the allegations against them, NO law court anywhere in this world would have prescribed such punishment. I hail the students who demonstrated for their bravery and swift response. The other day a lady was stripped naked, her legs forced wide open while a phone was being forced into her private part. It was posted on the internet. Similar scenes have been recorded in Lagos and Cynthia’s story is still fresh. The sad truth is that many of these victims are innocent, helpless, but promising Nigerians who collide with frustrations of failed governments. Nigeria is fast degenerating…simply sliding down the abyss.

I don’t know any of those guys but i just couldn’t eat or sleep well last night after watching that horrific video, i can still see their faces especially chidiaka’s face(when he was hit by that dog that called himself a vigilante member). Here is my verdict. I am tired of hearing stuffs like “13 people have been caught”. The only story that will at least gladden my heart is to see the whole village sacked, the lands should be taken from them and handed over to the family of the victims( I understand Aluu people love lands) and named after those boys as a compensation or better still taken by the government and converted into a cemetery.I want all the faces of those animals pasted all the country for at least a year. Finally, it is now time to see the so called Human right activists pick up this case and clamor for justice without taking as little as a nap until JUSTICE… i mean REAL JUSTICE is done and in public. Their PARENTS must not rest, UNIPORT must not rest, NANS must not rest, MOTHERS must not rest, NIGERIAN YOUTHS must NOT rest, anybody with human blood flowing in his veins and arteries MUST not rest, Mr PRESIDENT i know you have not lost your HUMANITY you MUST not rest too. Let us redeem our Humanity in this part of the world. It must not continue to be a DARK continent……… God I feel like just running out of this country to somewhere ….just anywhere human lives can be held in better esteem. I just can’t stop bleeding in my heart. ALUU community to HELL with all of you,Pathological illiterate land-lovers, go get some education and civility you barbarians, but this time in should be in exile.

This incident has confirmed the dire need for state police, campus police etc. The federal police doesnot have the numerical strenght to police the entire Nigerian federal territory. Please, establish state police and local government police and give them the required police training. This will go a long way in crime control if well managed and reduce unemployment in the society. Most graduates of liberal arts and social sciences will be very useful in building strong police force that will understand humanity.
Nigeria should forget about playing politics with the issue. Just imagine the fact that no policeman or woman showed up for the entire period the Aluu 4 lasted .Is it not a shame and a disgrace to the country called Nigeria?

With the Bad behavior of children of today, Universities asre not good to be sighted near any community forb fear of Cultists. If the four boys are not involved in cult related activities, or robbery why should the students not go about therir srike bin a peaceful way rather than being violent as was what we thought they were. With this, I will not back down that there are more robbers in our universities. The villagers took laws into their hands, what will we say about this the uniport boys did. The police should be drafted there for law and order.

We d mothers of this country commesurate with our fellow mothers over the loss of Ugona, Tekena, Lloyd and Chdiaka. No doubt they were to excell, but the evil community in the name of Aluu in PH rivers state cut them short. Nevertheless, they will never die cos they will forever live in our hearts. and in this our country Nigeria, never again will such happen cos when the nemesis that has befallen Allu will start to boomergant, even their gravels will be too hot for them. We therefore decree and declare with one voice that allu who is d borrower, their chiefs and the killers be made to dies d same way- naked beaten in pulp and marched to d same execution ground where their heads and faces will be smitten with woods, planks and stones, thereafter set ablaze. so that day out ever sleeping police will go to sleep as usual and will ignore every call made to this effect. as for d so called mothers of this community who went to sleep so that their husbands and sons can carry out this dastardly act, u will never know peace again. ur sons shall before ur eyes be cut down in d same ma nner for just no cos, ur community will never have any male child that will live past age of 24. those children u slaughtered were betwn 20-24, on their 24th birthday, each male child of your community will die a gruesome death and his carcas fed to d vultures and flies and on that day hearts will bleedd just like the hearts of the real mothers of this country Nigeria are bleeing now and u will find no one to console u. Aluu is a condemned community. Rest in peace our dearest sons, u will forever live in our hearts and u can never be forgotten. Adieu our beautifful sons.

For the record, am not from aluu community, in fact i have heard the name aluu before but for this recent incident and i have seriously condemned the act but what you saying is totally uncalled for and i tell it will stand in Jesus name (amen)..

Well, whats done is done, the only problem I have with this is that at this modern age 2012, such event can still happen again. I was born and bred in Lagos, and I lived in Surulere axis, I must confess, during my early yrs in school, primary school o, I have seen on the road robbers being chased, lynched and burnt to death, as a growing up kid, I still remember one robber being prepared cement mixture with water for him to drink and then a broom stick put in his penis then burnt afterwards, should I say all those were not regarded gruesome all these years? I was only 7-8yrs old then, now I am 30. This really isn’t surprising to me sincerely, especially the fact that I schooled in OSU Ogun State University, it is regarded as the bloodiest institution in the South-west region, and I rolled with different classes of students, please note that most cult members are used as POLITICAL THUGS and they also indulge in ROBBERY! I am not saying these guys killed in Aluu are robbers but if a police man can go rob overnight with his NPF rifle, then why cant cult members do the same if they are in possession of Man’s worst invention “GUN”? I have seen such happen lots of times in OSU and some of these students which I know in person even graduated with us, the amazing thing is that you can’t even pin point they are robbers as they look better and cleaner than other students. Our typical Aluu community then was Ago-iwoye, now an isolated township, full of very fetish sect, and a place drowned with bloody sacrifices, they always need a human head and so on for sacrifice to their forsaken unproductive land and gods and they will do anything like frequent/unannounced ORO festival which forbids females from setting their eyes on or you get killed, also, they will take the laws into theirs hands like Aluu have done because they don’t like visitors and just hate students. As for me, Nigerians have cried and shouted enough! Please, Boko Haram is still bombing, so the soldiers should be drafted there and help us with BH. We shouldn’t cause more havoc with this issue, Aluu should face the same faith Ago-iwoye is currently facing till date “ISOLATION”, after they unjustly murdered more than 1,000 OSU students in then 2005 Ago crisis. R.I.P the 4 fallen soldiers in Aluu…Aluta Continua…Victoria Acertia!!!
