Kaduna killings: Imam’s narrow escape

‘I hid inside disused tyres and watched gunmen kill my people’

From NOAH EBIJE and ABDULGAFAR ALABELEWE, Kaduna

More facts emerged yesterday on how the bloody attack on Dogon Dawa village near Birnin Gwari town in Kaduna State was executed, leading to the death of no fewer than 25 people. The Chief Imam of Dogon Dawa community, Malam Muhammad said he took cover inside some old tyres that were abandoned near the mosque and watched how the gunmen numbering about a 100, shot and killed early morning worshippers who were coming out of the mosque at dawn.

“The killers were saying they came to make real their threat, they shot and killed even children; it was sad indeed,” he said. Also speaking to newsmen, the traditional title holder of Danlawan Birnin Gwari in Dogon Dawa, Alhaji Abdurauf who could not hide his anger said, a former governorship aspirant, Alhaji Shuaibu Mikati, had earlier alerted the police to the threats to life and property in the area by armed bandits but nothing was done until the dawn attack on Sunday which had turned the entire area into deep sorrow and mourning.

According to him, Mikati had written a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), alerting him to the threat issued by the escaping gunmen who had vowed to unleash terror in the area. He said Mikati had also in the letter, appealed to the police to upgrade the police post at Dogon Dawa to the status of a police station but that was not done.

The traditional ruler also noted that the police gradually withdrew the six policemen stationed at the police post, which eventually led to the closure of the police post. “Sadly, the letter was acknowledged by the police authorities but instead of action to be taken, we only saw the six policemen in Dogon Dawa police post leaving. The authorities were duly informed.

That was three weeks before this attack,” he alleged. He lamented that although the vigilance group in the area had been doing its best, four of their members with link to a nearby Kuyello village were fingered by the gunmen and their associates, who accused them of giving the police sensitive information on the activities of the armed bandits in the area and were slaughtered. “The four were fished out by the gunmen and murdered in cold blood.

The police authorities knew about it. It is sad development,” he alleged. He expressed the hope that perhaps, the latest attack would compel the authorities to deploy police and other security agents to the area. Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna State yesterday visited the community to ensure the criminals were apprehended.

The governor who shelved his plan to travel abroad returned to the village from Abuja told members of the community in trembling voice that, “the state will do all within its power to round up those who carried out the dastardly act.”

According to Yakowa who visited the village in company with the GOC, 1 Mechanised Division, Major General Garba A. Wahab, state Director of SSS, Mr. Yomi Zamba, Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Adenaike, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission and member representing Birnin Gwari in the state assembly, Aliyu Balarebe Jigo, the perpetrators of the attack would not go unpunished.

Nigeria’s we always deceive ourselves after an atrocities was committed saying the perpetrators of the attack would not go unpunished. putting in mine that “The police authorities knew about it” then what are they going to do???? when they were the perpetrators? It’s a pity that common Niger republic here such a thing can never happen.

It is sad when human life is taken this way. No matter how we call it, or carried out this bastard act, killing is not good. If the muslims see this kind of killings are not good, please, let us exposed even those producing bombs in Maiduguri, cos it is for innocent christians.

As l sympathize with the people of Birnin Gwari l’ll equally advise them to respect the police a bit. I’m sure the reason why there is no police station there is because at every crisis they they try to kill the police and burn down their stations.

Hi Just want to tell you about
    best money making site~
    irespective of your age,
If you are a student or working
    class
    Educated or not…it doesnt
    matter
I knw most of you guys have
    hearing about this money
    making site called”NETCONTA
    CTS”
    and probably be wondering
what the heck is it all about or
that it is a scam,or illuminati
stuff like one of my gf called it.
    But its not!
    Its purely NETWORKING
    Well lemme break it down
    Netcontacts
    is a System Of Money
    Making,
    it is an
    online
    networking business where
    members
are paid by the persons that
    they
    invite to register as
    Netcontacts members, through
    their invitation
    codes.
plus many other benefits as a
    member eg
    *admission,
    *you earn N1500 for each
    person you invite to register
    under you,and you can make
N1.5 million monthly ,just by inviting
1000 people from the whole 36
    states monthly
    * they give loans to start up a
    business or afalling business or
    to pay/your school
    fees,anything
    *aiding when you intend in
    traveling outtside the country
    *marketing your goods and
    services,sellin
    gof goods /
properties @ a very cheap rate
*helping in securing job for your
    depending on your CV
    *and many more
But before you can gain all this
    you “MUST”become a full member
    So Whenever, any member
    invites
    somebody to register under him
    or
    her as Netcontacts member,
    the
    person registers for free trial
    membership.
    The member in free trial
    membership cannot invite other
    people
to register under him or her,
    until he or
    she migrates to full
    membership.
    And for a free trial
    member to migrate to full
    membership,
he or she has to activate his or
    her membership,
    by paying N1,500
    membership activation fee to
    the
    person that invited him/her.
    So, that
    the person that invited him/her
    will
    activate his/her membership.
    After
    his/her membership activation,
then would he/she be able to
    invite other
people to be paid also or apply
    for any
    Netcontacts benefits.
    How Does It
    Work?

options how u would want to
    receive
    your money for every member

    bank,
    you would send your activation
    number provided to you upon
    registration and the bank
    deposit
    teller number to the phone
    number of
the person that invited you to
    activate your membership online

    When your membership has
    been activated, then you to
    would be
able to refer people to join
    NETCONTACTS with the invitation
    code provided to you upon
    registration. And the person
    you invite
    goes trough the same step
    listed
    above.
    For Example, Assume you refer
    10
    people,
    you would be paid
    10 x 1500
    = 15,000 Naira
    50 People, you
    would be paid
    50 x 1500 = 75,000
    Naira
    100 people,
    you
    would be paid 100 x
    1500 = 150,000 Naira
1,000 people , you would be paid
    1000
    x 1500 =
    N1,500,000(mill ion) Naira
    In
    summary, you would be paid
    1500
Naira per each person you refer
    to the

What you expect the police who was afraid to face the heat of fire from the Fulani extremists to do. I have earlier made my submissions, IG of police in Kaduna metropolis has a case to answer as long as the recent barbaric killing of 25 in Kaduna is concerned. The police should be charge for negligence. The report has it on good record time that the police were put on a red alert/extent of being duly informed in writing about the reprisal attack, but in their usual lackadaisical attitude to their national callings neglected such information and now it has caused the lives of innocent citizens whose taxes were used to serve the agency. The nation’s security is porous and the police are not helping the matter. The IG should be brought to book and made to answer for his security lapses.

ojo, Biafra will fight again and this time around Bakassi people will be on the lead. What Ojukwu told the Bakassi has come to pass and today they are crying spilled milk? It is late. As for radio Biafra it is on and Biafra its life is alive. We are just waiting for our brother Jonathan Goodluck to complete his tenure and if power fails to come to the people of South east, they have no option than to collaborate with the people of Bakassi oil rich and declare a State of Biafra. Thank God Bakassi people have learnt their lesson, but regrettably in harder way. Sorry ooo!! .
