Igariwey now Ohanaeze leader

.Nworgu emerges Secretary General

From CHIDI NNADI and PETRUS OBI, Enugu

The Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday in Enugu elected new national officers with Chief Nachi Gary Igariwey emerging its new President General. Chief Igariwey will be taking over from the immediate past President General, Amb. Raph Uwechue, whose tenure expired last November.

Igariwey’s brother and sole opponent in the election, Chief Aja Nwachukwu, did not show up for the election held at the Enugu Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat. Dr Chris Asoluka, chairman of election transition committee of the group, who acted as returning officer, therefore, declared Igariwey unopposed and duly elected as President-General, while Dr Joe Nworgu polled 211 votes to beat Mr. Peter Orji, who scored 43 votes, to the second position for the post of Secretary General.

Also, Engr I.N. Nwonwu was returned unopposed as Deputy Secretary General, while Emmanuel Ajoku was declared National Vice President, Rivers State. Mr C.J. Ihemedu was also declared unopposed for the post of National Deputy Legal Adviser, just as Mrs Celina Adibua emerged the new National Financial Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

What are their agenda for igbo unity.I think ur main duty must be reuniting ndigbo of five southeastern states and and ndigbo in southsouth particularly rivers and delta states.dealing with the former is more important in sense that they should be given the sense of ndigbo identity again which the northerners forced their elders to reject and spred lies of unknown explanation after the civil war.reuniting igbos of southeast and southsouth is capital to igbo survival in general.

WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF THIS SO CALLED ELECTION ON THE PENDING SUIT AGAINST THE PRESIDENCY OF AMBASSADOR RALPH UWECHUE?
ONE WOULD EXPECT AN OHANEZE ELECTION TO BE MUCH BETTER ATTENDED THAN THIS. WILL THEY HAVE THE LEGITIMACY REQUIRED TO NEGOTIATE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF IGBOS?IT WOULD APPEAR THAT BECAUSE OF THE LAW SUIT CHALLENGING UWECHUE FOR OVERSTAYING HIS TENUTR, HE DECIDED TO HURRIEDLY CONDUCT A SEEMING ELECTION.WHY MUST OHANEZE BE EMBROILED IN ONE CONTROVERSY OR THE OTHER?

It is a task that must be done by bringing back our people in Delta state, Rivers state including Ogoja that was erroneously placed afar to cross river state. A tangible positions should be given to them without delay to ensure a comprehensive belonging.

I heard what you said, Nanm Owerri, you do not need to bring any body back to any where, Igbos are spread far into the lenght and breath of nigeria, like the Ijaws, the Urhobos, an Igbo do not loose his identity simply because of where he/she geographically find him or herself, igbo man’s identity is in his name, his hard work and his independency which is why we envied and hated. Igbos fought a devastating war and lost everything, today, it looks like the victors are are actually worse off. Igbos like their jewish brothers are survivalists. This strenght is also our weakness, read the story again, notice that the only opponent to Mazi Igariwey’s election was his own brother, Mazi Aja Nwachukwu. Igbos lacked unity of purpose as a collective term- a weakness that others have continued to exploit. Mazi Igariwe and his cabinet now have a chance to advance the interest of the Igbos or they can advance their own agenda to get to the lime light, for their own selfish interest and aggradisement. They have a chance to make a name for themselves and become our champions or Mazi Igariwe can betray the trust of his kinsmen like Prof Joe Irukwu when he accepted a token from Obasanjo to declare that the Igbo nation was behind him in his quest for a third term. Or he can also decides to become former old Anambra governor Jim Nwobodo who accepted a token from IBB to sell what was clearly an Igbo chance for Presidency in 1999 when Ekwueme at his strongest ever to truely assume the leadership of this country. Chief joe Irukwu was a highly decorated academia of national and international repute, but for hob-nobing with Obasanjo for the wrong reason and for an instand grafification, he dragged his name to the mud, same can be said of Chief Jim Nwobodo. As a people, we never forget those who shamed us and gave us a black eye for their own self enrichment. Both Nwobodo and Irukwu’s family will be reminded of this generations to come.

ENYI OHA, that is democracy which Igbos are known for as natural Republicans. The important thing is for Ohanaeze to make their agenda for Igbo unity clear, purge Igboland of selfish and criminal politicians and work for Igbos to establish our businesses in Ala Igbo and develop our homeland instead of developing other regions where we, whatever our inputs, remain settlers.

Let’s stop those nonsense interpretations revising and face the key question that this prostitute Nation name NIGERIA needs separation. Indeed Nigeria is a failure nation and it needs immediate splitting because there is no single office is functioning. People making noises of EFCC have you guys asked yourselves how many Lawmakers has EFCC arrested and took to Court and how many of the cases have they won? We need practical solution. People may be only talking-talking while IBB and OBJ are firmly in power.
