Five people were killed in Geidam, a small community in Yobe State at the weekend by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram. Geidam is located in the northern part of the north-eastern Yobe State.
Sources said the gunmen attacked the Kasuwan Shanu area of Geidam town on Friday night and shot dead five people mostly traders.
A resident who lost his brother in the attack said he left behind the victim to take care of his business while away in Lagos on business trip. “I just got a call that my younger brother was killed, We spoke on phone few days ago. I don’t know what to do now because I’m in Lagos to buy goods and replenish my shop,” the man said on condition of anonymity. Police sources hinted that the perpetrators of the Friday attack in Geidam “might not actually be Boko Haram but armed robbers because the attackers also robbed their victims of their monies and carted away cartons of liquor being sold by their victims.
“We believe the assailants are armed robbers and we have strong feeling that the Kasuwan Shanu attack last Friday was an armed robbery case and not Boko Haram,” a police officer who did not want his name in print said. Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Patrick Egbuniwe, however said four persons were killed in the attack, adding that his command was investigating the matter. “There was an attack on civilians in Geidam by some unknown gunmen and four people were killed. We are still investigating the matter,” the CP said.
The only answer to killings in Nigeria is ”We are investigating” and that is the end of it. Police who can not investigate attacks of them and killing of police men, How on earth will they conclude investigation on killings of civilians. Is high time the journalist stop asking police men question on attack, since they already knew their answer ”we are investigating it” In the country i reside, When a crime is reported in a media, you will be seeing updates base of police investigation and findings till they get to the root of it, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. The same story everyday, which way Nija? May God help us.

The amalgamation of southern and northern Nigeria by the British was to be experimented for 100 YEARS to know if it’s going to work or not, according to the secret government document the British left after independence. Although the document is kept secret, this fact is generally known to the ruling class, most dons of political science and law as well as the government of UK. Also,it was the real reason behind the northern governors recent security meeting in Kaduna, according to some sources. All these sudden talks about nigeria breaking or not breaking up by the political leaders including the president show how anxious they are about the implications of the document and the closeness of almighty 2014. On the international scene, the knowledge of this document was behind the prediction by American diplomats that Nigeria will break-up in 2015. The US army is also preparing on how to respond to the possible break up of Nigeria.

Any time innocent people are killed in cold blood, my heart bleeds for this country. Why on earth should an individual or group of people waste human lives and get away scot free? How do these weapons of mass destruction find their way into the country? Why can`t the security agents respond promptly to distress situations like this without waiting for orders from above? How well trained and equipped are the security agents? How long shall law abiding Nigerians live in constant fear of their lives and properties?
A muslem friend paid me a visit in a christian-dominated area of Kaduna city. He was so uncomfortable in my house that he could not even eat until he reached a `safe` zone. If we can not live together as one nation,, then we should tell ourselves the truth and go seperate ways. Abi?
