Former Ekiti State governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose has said that nobody or group could intimidate him because of his resolve to govern the state again. Fayose stated this against the backdrop of what he termed unhealthy politicking born out of struggles by some aspirants to get the party’s ticket. He said though such bickering was normal where aspirants jostle for the party’s ticket.
The former governor said that Ekiti State belonged to the PDP, adding that the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) took over the state due to misunderstanding among the state PDP leaders. Fayose said that the differences have been sorted out and PDP was ready to reclaim the state. The former governor who stated this in Emure Ekiti while addressing leaders and members of PDP, said he decided to come out to contest in the 2014 Ekiti Governorship poll to stop the political and economic drift in the state.
“Iam not a former governor that anybody or group can intimidate. Iam in the race purposely to stop the political and economic drift in the state.” Fayose who also addressed party members at Otun Ekiti last Tuesday revealed why he asked party members in the two local governments to pray for him. “I believe strongly in prayer. I am a Christian and I rely only on God’s power.
God has helped me to triumph over my adversaries. If I must return to the Government House again, every of my supporters must pray.” He urged Ekiti people to queue behind the PDP to chase out the ACN-led government in next year’s poll.
