Don’t contest 2015 presidency!

…PDP youth council tells Jonathan

…Says PDP may suffer defeat

From TAIWO AMODU, Abuja

A group, PDP Youth Council has called on leaders and founding fathers of the PDP to prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to refrain from contesting the 2015 presidential election. Campaign posters of the incumbent President for the 2015 election have flooded the Federal Capital Territory, but it had since been disclaimed by the presidency.

But addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, Comrade Bala Usman and Mr Fidelis Uzoka, the Publicity Director and National Director, respectively of PDP Youth Council warned that the PDP might suffer its first presidential defeat since its inception and return to democracy in Nigeria, if Jonathan picked his presidential ticket for 2015 general election.

The group premised its position on what it described as lack of “will and competence to solve many problems besetting the country for which Nigerians entrusted him with their mandate.” The PDP Youth Council called on elders of the party to galvanise forces to stop the idea of fresh mandate for the incumbent President beyond 2015, to save the credibility and image of the party.

“Today under Jonathan Nigeria, the labour and pains of democratic stability and intra-party unity built by our party’s founding fathers has gradually been destroyed to the extent that the picture emerging today if unchecked, is that PDP will suffer its first presidential electoral defeat under Jonathan’s Presidency.

“We wish to say here and now, that the timing of the campaign posters was ill-motivated, diversionary, and high-level of childish prank and a calculated attempt to test the will of Nigerian people and members of the ruling party by a regime that has burned the goodwill that Nigerians gave to our party.

“The choice of the midnight of the New Year for such wasteful gamble of flooding Abuja with the president’s campaign posters is very embarrassing and a show of leadership idleness on the part of the Presidential hawks.” It further claimed that a second term bid by the incumbent president would be viewed as a renege on an agreement he reached with party leaders and a recant on his public declaration to restrict himself to a single term. “Why is the president afraid of publicly honouring the pre-2011 agreement with party leaders, governors et cetera to do a single term of four years?”

“Why is the President scared of honouring his deal with our great former party leader, former President Obasanjo to do only a single term, which made Obasanjo to lead the peace, moves that doused tension in trouble areas and convinced party stakeholders to vote for him?

“Why is the president afraid of honouring his international vow in Ethiopia to do a single term in Office? Why is the president afraid of honouring his accord with Northern leaders and traditional rulers on completion of single term tenure?

“What will the President gain from abandoning his responsibility of governance to pursue a phantom 2015 project without a single achievement? Today, we as members of the ruling party are shouting because the president is on the path of slaughtering the ruling party.”

“The issue of national stability and intra-party cohesion and trust which Mr. President is about to breach a second time, will tear the last string that is holding the PDP together and set the party on fire and its journey to eternal burial, We say no to this.”

This is PDP affair. Well, is there anything like arrangement or zoning as far as PDP is concerned? It is good to hear at this point in time that a new agreement was struck prior to GEJ selection as the president. Meanwhile, PDP and GEJ have not been living to ideals of the constitution they swore and I think if all things are equal and INEC do justice, hence either GEJ or any other candidate under PDP will be defeated by the poor masses.

The traditional rulers= Emirs, Obas and Igwes. The religious leaders of this country, gang yourselves and advise Goodluck Jonathan not to contest 2015 election, so that shedding of blood would stop and peace would reighn.

Let me tell Mr. Bala and Uzoka or whoever your name is called, the president has the power to context any second term in Nigeria unlike the former president who wasted Nigeria money trying to context for third term.
On the other hand, if there is any body who is desparated to hijack power for themself, it is the Northern leaders who are ready to sacrifice the entire South for their selfish ambition.
Why are people so mad about power that they cannot seat first and find out wether they be alive till 2015.
Is it not because of the same thing that is causing BH to be trying the will of all Nigerians.
God will shock Nigerias and all the power drunk politicians. This people have already plan Gej’s failure before he started so that it will be said that he is a failure. But then the thought of man is not the thought of God. They thought Goodluck Jonathan is a caword, but they will get the greatest shock of their lives. If we want peace and not truth, we should hand over power to the North as cowards, but if we want truth, let truth prevail.Long live Nigeria

If Jonanathan is not ready is he the first president of Nigeria. why is the problems not solved before him. So who then is ready. Nothing and nobody can convince GEJ not to contest in 2015 if OBJ can not do that. Those that are expecting GEJ to honour any agreement are bunch of fools. What on earth made the so call greedy emirs and other Northern political leaders think that GEJ who endorsed an agreement on Zoning as a deputy gov and later denied of its existence will now be honourable enough to respect another agreement? It takes only a honourable man to respect agreement and OBJ is an honourable man for sincerely advising GEJ to live upto his words and quitting d stage when he sensed that GEJ will not. Northern emirs, politicians and religious leaders are greedy and sell out.

  12. Owerri January 4, 2013 at 4:21 pm - Reply

You are a fake youth leader. Who told u that OBJ were among those that formed PDP. The party was formed by Dr Alex Ekwueme and chief Solomon Lar. Others were the late chief Sunday Awoniyi, late Alhaji Abubaka Rimi before OBJ was released at Yola prison the party has been formed by these eminent Nigerians. It,s also an insult to other parts of the region to say GEJ struck a one tenureship deal with the northern leaders for a single term for GEJ. GEJ is a Nigerian and has every right to go for 2nd term in office if he wishes to do so. What every right thinking Nigerians are saying is that it is too immoral for him GEJ to paste any forms of pictures now in respect to 2015 general election. He should focus on the mandate given to him by the general public, which we honestly know that his government is too slow in every spheres of governance.

talking about Obasanjo, he also agreed to rule only once and then Atiku Abubakar will take over, but what happen? even if Jonathan should decide not to contest, it is the time for the Igbo’s to rule and not a Northerner.

These Self styled jobless PDP youths should shut mouth. This country does not belong to an individual , a political party,an ethnic group,a religious group or region for it to dictate who should rule and should not.Whoever trying to do that under a pretext of a power broker is doing it for selfish interest and should not be taken seriously.
As a young generation we should not allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by the gambits and shenanigans of those who are supposed to be political retirees but still struggling to be relevant but organize yourselves as a pressure group and criticize our leaders who are fallable constructively and respectfully for the betterment of our beloved country.
Nigeria belongs more to the young generation, including the incumbent ,and he cannot afford to squander the rare opportunity given to him by Nigerians at his own detriment .

President GEJ has the constitutional backing to contest in 2015 if the party gives him their ticket. All this noise about agreement and vow of a single tenure is blatant rubbish. Talking about performance, who among the past leaders gave nigeria quality leadership ?. President GEJ for now is better than all other challatans in the PDP or the so-called opposition. The corruption issue is a national disgrace which did not start with GEJ govermnent. Count all the past heads of nigeria state and tell me who among them is saint. Buhari is off and can never rule nigeria again as a religious appologist. What nigeria needs most is proper foundation so that whoever becomes a leader will not walk in darkness. Watch out for my book which will enthrone the best form of government ever to be practiced.

A section of the hausa fulanis desperate for power since they lack meaningful means of livelihood (no insult intended but truth can be bitter) sponsored murderers in the name of boko haram with the mandate to discredit the jonathans administration, knowing that no meaningful progress can be made in the country in a state of insecurity, now boko haram has back fired on them, the north haspolitically disintegrated, the division is sharper than a surgical blade, businesses closed, investors from other parts of the country have all relocated, others from overseas dont want to hear a place called northern nigeria now poverty is walking in its four legs, where is president jonathan to blame in this, is it for not sending soldiers to go and bury the whole of maiduguri, yobe, bauchi, adamawa, gombe, niger etc or is it for seeking to discuss with these murderers, boko haram who have refused to identify themselves something a president should never do with terrorist groups. PDP youth council or what ever you call yourselves, you and your boko haram sponsors be prepared to live with jonathans presidency in nigeria for the next eight (8) as nobody or group or region of nigeria can dream otherwise. president jonathan will surely deliver a nigeria we all will be proud of, nigerians we all have a duty to support the administration of president jonathan for the next eight constitutional years in the interest of nigeria.

Mr gana, what you are saying is what we already know, that the reason buhari and the north unleashed the boko haram on nig is to make jonathan look incompetent and and incapable and then discredit him and then make ppl think that buhari can do better, I think that the only ppl you are carrying through will only be the fools and those who don’t use their minds and the simple minded ones like you and if you are in nig and you don’t know that the number of inteligent ppl in nig is greater than the fools among us, then you are what I think you are, if there are inteligent ppl among you I am sure that they will be disapointed in your coment here. As for mr uzoka, if you are realy Igbo as your name sounds then your parents must be crying now for giving birth to and using their sweat to train a thing like you. Asuming you are Igbo why should you allow your name to be used in this type of blackmail? Don’t you know that the reason your name is there is to make the blackmail have a national look? If you are 15 years or above I will sugest that you be sold into slavery if they are still doing it
