The Save Enugu Group, a socio-political organisation that sprang up in the wake of the prolonged absence of Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime from office, has stated that its investigation has revealed that the governor is in Wellington Humane Swiss Cottage Hospital in London, against the state government’s position that he has been on vacation. In a letter to Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, dated January 16, the second in one week, the group said that since Chime is in hospital while the state government has been saying he’s on vacation, the deputy governor should make a broadcast in which he would apologise for the “lies” told the public about Chime’s whereabouts.
The letter signed by Maxi Okwu, Chief Willy Ezeugwu, Chief Barr. Ray Nnaji, Ozo Igbonekwu Ogazimorah, Comrade Victor Chigozie Eneh and Comrade Ibuchukwu Ezike, for the group, also demanded that all persons involved in telling lies about Chime’s whereabouts should be summarily sanctioned. The Save Enugu Group also asked the deputy governor to invite the Enugu State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to organise a one-week interdenominational prayer and fasting session for Chime.
The letter, entitled: “Prolonged and unexplained absence of His Excellency Sullivan Iheanacho Chime, governor of Enugu State,” reads: “You may recall that we had on 7th January 2013, written to you on the above subject and essentially raised issue on the whereabouts and status of our governor. We further suggested that some eminent sons and daughters of the state be constituted into a delegation to seek him out and report back to the good people of Enugu State, since we had lost confidence in the credibility of government information managers.
“Well last Sunday, 13th January 2013 specifically by 18.28 hours an investigative and credible online news service known as Sahara Reporters posted that our governor was in a London hospital with serious health challenges. We have waited for government’s response to this breaking news to no avail. It is unfortunate that your government has not deemed it fit to deny or confirm the report. This is against the backdrop of the official ENSG position that our governor was on vacation enjoying his accumulated leave. “Today makes it four months since the last public citing of our able governor.
We had always known that he would not stay away for so long on vacation unless circumstances were above his control. Pro-actively, we commissioned our own investigators who tracked him down to Wellington Humane Hospital Swiss Cottage, London. “It is, therefore, clear that all along officials of your government were lying to the people of Enugu State. The health status of any public official, particularly chief executives like a state governor is not a private matter. The people have a right to know as invariably their tax is being deployed to take care of that officer.
“In the light of the above we demand: That your make a broadcast to the people of Enugu appraising then on the true situation of their governor; That you apologize on behalf of your government for all the falsehood dished out by your information managers; That all persons involved in this grave misconduct be summarily sanctioned; That you invite the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Enugu branch, ably led by His Grace Bishop Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma to organise an interdenominational prayer and fasting session for one week for divine intervention for our ailing governor.”
Last week, the Save Enugu Group had written a letter to the state deputy governor demanding that he made broadcast in which he would tell the people the whereabouts of Chime. The state government had dismissed the call and branded those behind the group as government haters looking for relevance.
I remember when Babangida as head of state was to go for an operation (radiculopathy) He told Nigerians, and update of the operation was regularly reported to the masses. But today bloody elected civilian leaders are hiding a lot from their subjects. A lot of lies and deception manifested when Yaradua was sick, and the same is happening with Enugu state governor.
Nothing should be secret about the where about of a Governor of any state, the lying by the State’s authorities to the people of Enugu state on the health conditions of the state governor shows that we always do things in Nigeria like uncivilized educated people. Chime is a public person, hence, truth must be told about his long absence from office as a governor of Enugu state.

none of the Bishops in Enugu,Chukwuma or Onaga of Catholic church is good enough to do any GODS intervention for the ailing governor.Both Bishops are money bags and does not represent any body before Christ.Let my Parish Priest Rev Fr.obi from Papal Ground Abuja be invited to conduct such inter denomination mass if GOD is needed to heal Chime and forgive Him his sins to be well and come back to continue his assignment as the Governor,Enugu State.
