•Maxi Okwu’s faction elects Obidigbo
At the primary election which took place at the MicRoyal Hotels, Awka, Okwu and Mazi Larry Nwosu declared Dr Obidigbo as APGA flag bearer for the Anambra governorship election scheduled for Nov 16, 2013.
According to Mazi Nwosu who announced the commencement of the primary process yesterday, Mazi Nwosu stated that the special congress to elect the governorship candidate was in line with Section 11(11:4) of the party’s operational constitution and code of conduct.
He said it was imperative to elect a candidate that appeals to the wide spread membership base and citizens of the state who would eventually beat all comers in the governorship race in the state.
Secretary of the party’s screening committee, Chief Chris Eze said that after a careful and critical appraisal of the entire aspirants’ credentials and antecedents, Dr Obidigbo came out tops, beating all others.
He said it was in deed against all acceptable logic to sacrifice such high calibre personality on the alter of sentiments and parochialism.
Obidigbo declared elected as the candidate of the party after polling 452 votes.
Okwu, while presenting the party’s flag to him said, “APGA as a pacesetter in the nation’s polity will always get it right
He expressed high optimism that Obidigbo when elected will consolidate on Gov Peter Obi’s numerous achievements.
In his acceptance speech, Obidigbo thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him and assured to carry the party’s banner to lofty heights, adding that he was going to pursue APGA and the Igbo agenda that would lead to the empowerment of youth and women.
