… Obaru Ibru takes over
By UCHE USIM
The restructuring exercise initiated by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) since its technical takeover of Aero has consumed its first casualty in the person of the Managing Director of the airline, Capt. Akin George. George was asked to step aside in a bid to revamp the airline.
The former Deputy Managing Director, Obaro Ibru has been appointed as the acting managing director/chief executive officer. According to a statement from the airline, the resignation of Capt. George was the beginning of a restructuring exercise that would make the airline slimmer and stronger with the aim of making it more competitive. George had served Aero for 24 years in various capacities.
Chairman of the board, Mr. Funsho Kupolokun said: “The board accepts the resignation of Capt. George and appreciate the services he has rendered to this airline over the last two decades. We wish him the best in his future endeavour.” Ibru, who until now was the deputy managing Director, had been appointed by the board on acting capacity.
He came with extensive experience in banking and aviation industry ranging from aviation project management, consumer banking product development, strategy, ICC internal control and compliance and business process engineering, among others.

I HOPE THAT THIS SO-CALLED RESTRUCTURING WILL NOT STOP THE GOOD WORK AERO IS DOING. WAS IBARO SACKED FOR MAKING FLYING A POSSIBILITY FOR ORDINARY NIGERIANS. WHO KNOWS?
@ Umunna, check the news properly, it wasn’t Obaro Ibru sacked, but Capt. Akin George asked to resign, take note. If this development will revamp the sector, why the skin pain Umunna.
But Obaro is a loose cannon!
Obaro is the son of Cecilia Ibru who was made to return stolen 191billion from oceanic bank. They are just returning hero back to the owners through the back door.
Kupolukun, Ibro and George hmmmmmmmm Nigeria for sale
