5 goats arrested in Osun

… For violating environmental laws

From BAMIGBOLA GBOLAGUNTE, Osogbo

No fewer than five goats were yesterday arrested at Dele-Yesa area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital by officials of the state Waste Management Agency (OWMA) for allegedly violating environmental laws. The state Coordinator of the agency, Mr. Henry Ogunbanwo said the goats would be charged to court by the agency and would be prosecuted in accordance with the laws guiding environmental protection in the state.

He said the state government had issued notice of warning to all residents of the state capital on the need to monitor their domestic animals to avoid public disturbance by the animals, which, he said, was against the environmental laws. Ogunbanwo disclosed that the five goats arrested were detained at the office of the agency in Osogbo from where they would be taken to court for prosecution.

He said the goats ran fowl of the laws guiding environmental protection by roaming around the residential area of Osogbo instead of being caged by their owners. He declared that the present administration in the state had zero tolerance for dirtiness and environmental hazard; hence the need for the enshrinement of the environmental laws, adding that the government would not take it lightly with violators of the laws According to him, officials of the agency would from now move to every nook and cranny of the state to arrest animals violating the state environmental laws, stressing that owners of such animals would also be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the laws.

He advised those rearing domestic animals to keep them in a cage to avoid arrest, insisting that his agency would not allow any animal to roam about on the streets of any town or village in the state. He urged those looking for their goats in Osogbo and its environs to check at the state office of OWMA in Osogbo.

Who then defends the goat in the court, a fellow goat i guess. Why not apprehend the owners instead of animals, are you not making mockery of the judiciary in Nigeria? Calling Osogbo a city as if it has all it takes to answer such name, Rastafarian governor. The governor of Ifa spirit, another funny story will soon come up, some people deserves not to be a governor in indeed, his out look alone is a suspect. Making a cannabis smoker a state governor is the reason to all these mess.

One thing i love about Nigeria is that we emulate the negative western ideas and practice it very efficiently and shy away where needed to tackle. what a huge joke. hahahahhaahhahaha, here the justice pronouncement, i hereby charge you goats for wandering on said date, that you contravene the section 1, sub- section c of the osun state laws on environmental and waste management, you are hereby found guilty and sentenced to capital punishment, only to be executed by the hangman Gov. Aregbesola

My friend, for your information, those innocent, poor, neglected & hungry goats will never be executed on these frivolous chrages. Lawyers for The Campaign For The Protection of Freelance Goats (CPFG), an abandoned animal advocacy group, have been alerted & are preparing to take the appeal of this silly Osun State High Court sentence up to the Federal Supreme Court. The campaign’s president, Dr. Goat Head, promises to spare no resources to free those suffering citizens of the goat community from becoming isi-ewu pepper-soup on somebody’s dinner table. However, they are appealing for your financial contributions to support the fight to save the goats. For the goat loving sympathizers out there, please send your widow’s mite to Acct. No. 3459999901 domiciled at any new generation bank in the country. These goats must not die! Foolish people! Only in Naija! Kidnappers & Boko-Haramists, Bank robbers & Subsidy thieves, Pipeline vandals & Corporate Oles, Crooked politicians & thieving governors (former & present) are all running rampant in the country. But our police and other law enforcers can never apprehend them for prosecution. But for defenseless, malnourished, poor goats, why not? What a waste of prosecutorial state energy!

My people this sounds funny, but i can still remember in old good days when i was a little growing boy in the village they use to be this type of thing I think is not a new thing at all but the funny part of it that they said, those goats will be charged to court as you said who will stand in for those goats? why can’t they look for the owners to come forth and pay the fine attached to it or do they just want or looking for goat to keep celebrating the new year, i do know some times it is dangerous to meet goat and other type of animal on the road wile driving, owners of such should as a matter of responsibility control those animal as many of them has coursed a lot of accident on our roads in the past. may the good lord continue to bless Nigeria Amen.

What an interesting story goats arrested, goats charged to court. Well these goats will answer you in the court of law. I am interested in this case and will like to know how it ended. The owners of these goats should never show face in the court.

    Interesting story from OSUN STATE.
What of cows, fowls ie cocks and hens, dogs, ducks, pigs etc
Was it only goats that the prosecutor has found wanting in Osun State?
You should make more arrests, else you should be sent to psychiatric hospital for test.
Direct your energy to useful things. I know that the state coordinator must be one of those agberos used in winning election as his action suggested.

Guys, we all need to move forward and think straight. The story is quite amusing and stress relieving, indeed some good laugh! Oshogbo is a capital city and goats/animals should not be seen wandering about on the streets. They should be caged by there owners. I will suggest that their owners should be procecuted and not the goats as being reported. For sure most of the owners may not show up. Nigerian Jounalist, na wah for una!
