Diamond Bank Plc., last weekend, took its mobile banking truck, tagged: ‘Diamond-in-Motion’, to the Federal Palace Hotel for live Christmas shopping event, organised by Lost in Lagos.com. Lost in Lagos.com is a website that helps people to discover Lagos, with the most comprehensive list of Lagos’ restaurants and shops, among others.
The company organised a shopping event at the weekend, which featured some major fashion designers and other vendors that attracted customers from far and near. Diamond Bank was, therefore, on hand to offer banking services to various people who thronged the venue to shop for goods and services. Mrs. Ayona Trimnell, Head of Corporate communications of Diamond Bank told our correspondent:
“I feel very happy about our roll out of banking services to customers at the Federal Palace. I’m ecstatic seeing people using our first of its kind mobile banking truck in this country which we are starting with Lagos.” She explained that the mobile bank that other banks in the country have are only for ATMs but the Diamond-in-Motion is a mobile bank with full fledged facilities like a branch, adding that customers can actually do all banking transactions in it. She said the introduction of the mobile banking truck was in line with the bank’s vision to be in the best top five banks in the country in the next five years, remarking that they have a lot of plans and more of the trucks will be coming in soon so that they can get to where their customers are
. “We intend to take banking services to the universities and bus stops as well as National Youth Service orientation camps, that is getting the bank’s presence to every nook and crannies in the country in order to get new accounts through it,” Trimnell said. She said they would review its operations in the Lagos market by the first quarter of next year before it would be extended to other parts of the country.
Trimnell said at the roll out in Federal Palace, customers have opened new accounts, withdrawn third party cheques as well as paid in other banks’ cheques, thereby getting instant value in a cosy environment. Diamond Bank recently launched the mobile banking truck in a bid to bring banking services to the door step of its existing and potential customers.
The new service was launched by the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alex Otti, at the corporate headquarters of the bank in Lagos. Under the service, customers can open new accounts, pay bills, saves money, use ATM and it can also collect deposit.

This nature of services will be more relevant in rural areas, so DiamondBank should target the economy potentials of rural areas with this services because it will also benefits goverment institutions, private business located in rural areas above all it will educate rural settler the importance of bank and encourages saving money to bank.
