Boko Haram: Why Kalu offered to negotiate on FG’s behalf

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has offered to dialogue with Boko Haram on behalf of the Federal Government.

Kalu made the offer following the refusal of Boko Haram’s chief nominee for the dialogue, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, to accept the offer.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Emeka Obasi, Kalu said there was nothing wrong with the refusal of the offer by Buhari, adding that he was in a position to talk with the group for the return of peace to the country.

He said that having lived in the hotbed of Boko Haram activities, Maiduguri in Borno State and being a prominent South Easterner, which has been largely affected by the activities of the group, he was in a position to marry the feeling of the actors in the dialogue process.

Obasi quoted Kalu as saying: “General Buhari took a laudable step by opting out. “For one who contested the 2011 presidential election, meeting with Boko Haram may be misconstrued because many believe that the group’s activities heightened after the emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Kalu, who is also the protem leader of the nascent socio-cultural organisation, Njiko Igbo, added: “Ndigbo have suffered enough. “Their businesses have been destroyed, lives lost.

“Nigeria is their country.

“I do not see why they cannot walk freely from Maiduguri to Mubi, from Borno to Bauchi.

“I lived in Maiduguri.

“I still own properties there. “I know the terrain.

“We can sit down and dialogue on the condition that the group will cease all bombing activities in Nigeria.

“In the interest of peace, I think government should accept the peace move.

“Previously, they were almost faceless.

“Now, there is a window for peace.

“It is always good to jaw-jaw than to war-war.

“Both Islam and Christianity preach peace.

“A situation where going to serve God becomes a walk into bloodbath does not help our spiritual lives.

“No family prays to lose four, five members to bombs in a war that seems to set one religion against the other.”

Yeah, if jaw jaw worked with the militants of the Niger Delta, why will it not work elsewhere but first the faceless must have a face and its grieviances known.

  2. Onyebuchi leo November 12, 2012 at 5:49 am

this is a welcom address to all Nigerians, but caution should be taken to prevent more bloodshed, we love the bold step by Orji and pray other aspirants wil love Nigeria at heart.

    • chinnne November 12, 2012 at 3:54 pm

Babangida is speaking through Orji Kalu, Orji kalu is not speaking for Igbos, he is speaking for Babangida.
This same man rigged Ekwueme out in Jos convention (PDP) 1999.

  3. Dr. A. Akeem November 12, 2012 at 6:03 am

I disagree with kalu and the commentator first Niger Delta indigen like elder orubebe, Godwin Abe and co are those that dialogue with the militants and no single notherner involve. secondly, the militant base was known and their operation field. third, the Niger Delta militant dont just kill and destroyed innocent pple but gov’t structures and their greivances were made known unlike the book haram. Why dialogue in the first instance? or is the military overwhelmed? If the don’t want one country why are we forcing oursefs on oursefs. What has the church got to do with underdev’t in the north? All this dialogue issue are not genuie, gov’t and Nigerians should not tricked by a cliche of illitrate and hopeles individuals.

    • Alfred Agu November 13, 2012 at 3:24 pm

@ Dr A. Akeem, God bless you. I couldn’t have said it better.

  4. Andreas wubal, jos November 12, 2012 at 6:04 am

So is because you have assets in maiduguri that you now see the need for negotiation with boko haram? Nigerian leaders!

    • DAYO November 12, 2012 at 11:49 am

Since the leaders from the North are not ready to come out and do something, the people with brave mind who are ready to do assist the masses that being killed everyday should be supported.

Many igbo people owns all the important properties in every part of the country.

Dr. Kalu’s statement that he owns a property in maiduguri shows his patriotism to Nigeria

    • Cleandivine November 12, 2012 at 12:08 pm

What is actually your problem? Can you figure out why your people always shy away from such responsibilities? Igbos are known for their bravery why some others are known for cowardice.

    • I dey Laugh oooo November 13, 2012 at 1:58 am

God bless you DAYO for remind this fool call himself Andreas wubal, jos. i don’t know who borrowed him system to come here and talk rubbish. Dr.Kalu should be reckon for come out and offer such help to the country and we should know that the problem of BH is carelessness of our Government because our leaders always approach nation issue with tribal sentiment and cowardness attitude/ statement like that of Andreas wubal, jos

  5. Ibraheem November 12, 2012 at 6:22 am

Hopeless and illitrates right Dr Akeem? Are you really a Dr?Have you ever been to north or are you somewhere in some part of the country talking trash?Well,I don‘t blame you and your likes, because you‘re the ones HOPELESS & ILLITRATES,just when in this life will you people SEE?When will you HEAR?Till you fail completely?Goodluck Jonathan is so perfect that everything in this country is moving just F-I-N-E,be wise Dr cos aren‘t.

    • sb muri November 12, 2012 at 9:42 am

Ibraheem, i dont expect this comment from a well behaverd person, are they not faceless? is the demand of these our brothers really ok wt the realities on the gronud? lets remove sentinent and tell the truth to our brothers that this is not the way to press home any demand by killing innocent people all over the region.

    • National Conscience November 12, 2012 at 10:53 am

@Ibrahim, what exactly is your point? Dr. A. Akeem’s contribution was clear. But I seem not to make anything from yours. Are you in support of this heartless spilling of innocent Southern blood on the streets of the North? Or are you also dancing on the blood of the Eastern women and children flowing on your land? Let’s know your stand!

    • Eze November 12, 2012 at 4:31 pm

Ibraheem, stop abusing pple,i think u’r 1 of d boko haram member. Wot has Akeem said wrong now,or wot ar d sect is fighting for? They ar nt like N/D

    • Okorie chinedu November 13, 2012 at 7:58 am

Dr Akeem has not said anything wrong here,Pls Mr.Ibraheem read Akeem write up well you will see,do you like seen people slaughtered in the north, just because they are not your brothers or sisters?

  6. Nonso November 12, 2012 at 6:34 am

Don’t you think that for a southerner to offer for the negotiation will be misconstrued to them having lost the second civil war, thus forcing themselves to remain in Nigeria. This to me will further bring them to repudiation both politically and otherwise by the Northerners. Well, Orji wants his name to be heard, without thinking about the negative impact his action will bring to the south east

    • david November 12, 2012 at 8:47 am

      Well said akeem

    • DAYO November 12, 2012 at 11:57 am

I disagree with you Nonso. The problem we have in this country is that we dont see our self as one.

If Orji Uzo Kalu has the solution to the problem of Boko haram let us give him all the support that he needs.

  7. NNABUEZE AJIMAH November 12, 2012 at 6:40 am

the federal government should just accept orji’s offer to see if this madness, this eye sore causing by the boko haram will stop. so let’s give this a try to see if the blood shed activities will cease, we needed peace. abeg fg

Why do stories have to be so long
    when told by a woman?

Man telling the story: “Hey you
remember that fat guy who was
dancing at the party? He died.”

Woman telling the same story: “Honey Do you remember my friend Jackie from work? The one who invited us to her party! She just told me that Mike’s wife from the party, heard from James’ wife Cathy, that Philip told her that his brother Max, the fat guy from the party, choked on a piece of meat, or it could have been bread,I don’t remember, but anyway, she said that Max was rushed to the hospital late last night, after he suffocated from being choked by the bread. They did all they could do to save him, but he didn’t make it. I can’t believe it, that fat guy from the party died.”

Is it coz they have 2 sets of lips or what??

  16. Peace November 12, 2012 at 7:32 am

I just wonder what kind of people are in this country, for someone like Dr. Orji Kalu to come and say he will negotiate with Boko Haram. !!! you can not just imagine the risk is taken on himself and his family !!!. He should be seen as a national hero and not to be castigated

  17. david November 12, 2012 at 7:46 am

there is nothing to negotiate with this idiot called boko haram until they all come out and tell us why they are bombing churches and killing innocent people just like that…negotiating with these bastards is encouraging other angry people to pick up arms again and start killing people and at the end there will be negotiations…let them come out and tell Nigerians why they are killing people first, then after hearing their anger then there will be negotiations period

    • flare November 12, 2012 at 12:02 pm

  21. Nkeiru Grace Aham November 12, 2012 at 8:06 am

Kalu is politically exhausted & ideal. He’s just looking for a cheap way of coming back.

    • Charles November 12, 2012 at 10:28 pm

      Ur right

  22. Okeleme Frederick November 12, 2012 at 8:12 am

This is absolutely a statement of a failed governor who left his state in abject poverty, seeking recognition for ambition that will not come to reality. I am sure his counterpart whom he ordained and later became cat and rat in politics went to Ghana and collected award making mockery of the state ,will soon volunteer himself also because of future politics.

  23. Bolanle November 12, 2012 at 8:12 am

The more Orji Uzo Kalu continue with behavior like this, the more ridiculous he makes himself and his proposed presidential ambition

  24. Saidu November 12, 2012 at 8:13 am

Dr. Akeem…You are a jealous Fool. Please offer yourself to BOKO HARAM for dialouge. NAMAN DAJI LIKE YOU

  25. JONAH November 12, 2012 at 8:17 am

Good talk! It is not better to know who he wants to talk with? Can the former Governor succeed in talking with the faceless? The talk will yield fruit if the other party and their grievances are known. They should demasquerade for the proposed negotiation.

  27. iyke A. November 12, 2012 at 8:32 am

how credible is Orji Kalu? what are his antecedents? what are his legacies in Abia state for eight years? he has lost his relevance,he is now a busybody.

  28. CJ November 12, 2012 at 8:44 am

Orji Uzor Kalu: A sidelined failed politician desperately seeking relevance. Unfortunately, your dismal antecedents both as a failed governor and failed leader of a deceased political party have proved you unworthy of any kind of leadership.

You are not perceived to be the leader of Ndigbo and never will be. You are perceived to be what you truly are: a self-centred, arrogant desperado without conscience and love for his people. Quit fooling around in the media and making a nuisance of yourself and just quietly enjoy your stolen wealth while you can.

  29. jude November 12, 2012 at 8:53 am

    Kalu is a shame

    • chinedu o November 13, 2012 at 7:34 am

    • Okorie chinedu November 13, 2012 at 8:00 am

If Kalu is a shame, then you are?

  30. Owerri November 12, 2012 at 9:22 am

@ Ibraheem, it,s good for one to come for a round table discussion but his opponent must first appear with agenda to be shared collectively and objectively ie civility at it,s best. Why naming GEJ as one behind Nigeria woes is uncalled for. All these problems we re experiencing today was initiated by IBB. He brought all these evil orientation to every Nigerian, but u see GEJ can not handle these short comings as a bonafied civilic young man within shortest period of time.

  31. neco November 12, 2012 at 10:43 am

Pls leave orji out of dis. Kalu is man of peace

  32. Johnson November 12, 2012 at 10:58 am

I think it is important to give him a chance here,if not for anything, but for the innocent souls that are dying through their attacks everyday.

  33. ema ikwechegh November 12, 2012 at 11:03 am

Thanks to u Ouk , yur the man. Not minding what any bastard wiil think and say about yur bold step. @ cj yur a big fool .

  34. chuks November 12, 2012 at 11:04 am

No dialogue. They must surrender and pay for those innocent souls they sent to great beyond abruptly. The truth is that their sponsors are becoming weary that any moment from now that they will be arrested so they want to divert attention with the tactics of dialogue. The average member of boko haram is a very wretched person. How are they coming in contact with Schikolav (AK-47) one of the most modern, powerful and expensive assault riffle in the world and as well conventional war bombs without very rich sponsors. They have very rich sponsors that are now at point of arrest. It will pay them more to come to the rest of us Nigerians and confess their act before being caught. The rest of us will forgive them and that will allow Nigeria and the rest of the Northern Nigeria to forge ahead progressively.

    • Don November 12, 2012 at 6:27 pm

Chuks, I agree wt u absolutely. More soldiers should be sent to ds volatile areas. While d sponsors must be arrested and made to pay for their wicked acts. NO NEGOTIATN WT TERRORIST!

  35. ema ikwechegh November 12, 2012 at 11:07 am

Jude yur a big shame to. Manhood and u may be the next victime of biko haram if u and yur father don’t support OUK now. Bet and see. Lol

  36. nakedicome November 12, 2012 at 11:14 am

Kalu,go and repair Aba and put in good order your home before trying to help Buhari in the mess he roped himself.

  37. Onyedi chika November 12, 2012 at 11:19 am

Orji Kalu, may the almighty God continue to bless you. We are ready to make Nigeria better by electing you president come the next election.

  38. Domby November 12, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Tell OUK to go and sort himself out first. He is not qualified to represent even his father’s house talkless of Nigeria in any discussion. He should go and SLEEP in his misery.

Abia state is still groping under the evil effects of his “mamacracy” regime in the state for eight years. He enshrined evil in Abia state, his evil son has kept the evil flag flying till date. OUK should be in prison, it is only in Nigeria that people like him make contribution in public discuss.

  39. Perfection November 12, 2012 at 12:06 pm

Who told you boko haram is faceless. I wonder why people who claim to be educated are so myopic. You been reading newspapers and constantly making comments yet brainless.
PDP is boko haram and the FG knows them. Come on! Don’t be carried away by sentiment. Allow Kalu to go he is part of them and a beneficiary. After all, CAN president just acquire a jet from his share of boko haram security votes.

  40. Chidi November 12, 2012 at 12:08 pm

I dont know what People want from this saint called orji uzokalu..anything he does envious and Jalousy People Must go negative.why?..Dede Ride on as far as i know u re One of the Big trees in Nigeria politics those who criticise you re doing that Out of ignorance and envy for you re a Blessed.Do everything u can to get the Peace talk Rolling as many who re against it want to See more blood outthere .but whatever u do always remember Biafra is Not negotiaable as we the youth ve made up of our mind to opt Out of this failed Country Nigeria.Ride on my Hero.

  41. Ikenna November 12, 2012 at 12:15 pm

I still maintain my stand on the Boko Haram issue. They are Terrorists and should be treated as such. US govt can never negotiate with known Terrorists. Buhari should be placed under close watch.

  42. Ikenna November 12, 2012 at 12:26 pm

The only solution to the problem is by declaring state of emergency on the affected states and allow the military to flush out those Terrorists. The President should be bold enough to take the decision.Negotiating with them under their conditions will give those financing them guts to do whatever they like in the country and think they can get away with it. They can wake up tomorrow and demand 90% of oil revenue be paid to the northern states or the bombing will continue.

    • Nedu November 12, 2012 at 8:52 pm

I totally agree with Ikenna. You don’t negotiate with known terrorists for any reason whatsoever. Their actions are highly barbaric to the core! Tomorrow, they can come up with near- impossible demands.

  43. onwumere November 12, 2012 at 12:31 pm

  45. anguslaz November 12, 2012 at 12:47 pm

  48. kola amodu November 12, 2012 at 1:23 pm

What did u achieved for eight yrs as de gov. Of ur dear state? Abia. Am sure u’re only looking for political post which u will never get again. U’re a damaged good, so go back home n put de shock in ur mouth. Big fool. Oyin o si

  49. dom November 12, 2012 at 1:30 pm

Orji Kalu should keep himself out of this, he should not be over ambitious, none of the northern moslems has offered for this negiotation, why Kalu from the south East, other Igbo letimate organisation has not made any speech on this, Kalu as a person should not be representing the South East, when we have other powerful Igbo organisation, like the Ohaneze’s and the rest. what one taught Kalu would have adviced the Igbos living in the north was to try to relocate down town and begin to develop our zone as Ojukwu used to tell Igbos, but his selfish interest is now pushing him beyond the border…Igbo leaders has not called him for this neither the Fed govt. of Nigeria.

My people of Igbo’s, make we stop blaming Orji Uzor Kalu, it’s just because He did nothing wrong, let us forget about what EFCC OR GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES are talking about, All these battling is political pinch against Orji, because those EFCC are the most corrupted groups because they have made many young guys poor and become rich; Starting with before condemning Orji Uzor Kalu let us first Condemn those existed leaders before Orji, and many of those existed most corrupted peoples are still alive today eating in the pocket of FG and yet No body to talk bad against them. Please my great Igbo’s let us stop going back because going back is death, I am begging our people of Igbo’s to join our hand together now to avoid another had I know; No body is perfect and No Body is good in our country Nigeria, what we need to do is to find a peaceful solution so that we can have a free living than bombing bombing activities. If Orji can handle the Negotiations issue between FG and Boko Haram to bring peace let us go ahead and stop political Pinch Words against Orji OK.

we are waiting for GODS time to come, one day this so called nigeria as a country will be divided, every one will go back to thier regions, i stongly believe that, in no distance time, it will happen

  63. sulaiman sani November 12, 2012 at 4:47 pm

From the look of things and referenced to these comments, Nigerians are divided into 3 categories; 1. Those who are selfless. 2. Those who are selfish.
    3. Those in between.
The most dangerous category is the 3rd and unfortunately, that is where the bulk of these commentators fall into. It is really sad once again that, these comments are coming from Nigerians aged between 21-45 who are presumed leaders of tomorrow. A reminder here for all is that, the strength of the US, the epitome of democracy is her multi-cultural outlook. Nigeria could have been better given this trend. Boko Haram or No Boko Haram, societies will definitely crashed out or better still, be pulled back if injustice, hunger, starvation, looting, corruption, in-equality, resource distribution skewdness, bias e.t.c become the order of the day. Like i said sometimes back, even if there is no Boko Haram by now, we must be faced with a similar problem to the one in question with a different name, from any of the regions of our beloved country. Ask your self, how can a country where more than 75% of its inhabitants live below one USD per day, has a president (not only the current president) who takes salaries more that the US president, each of her legislators take at least 3-times that of the US president and has all her resources in the hands of only 1% of the population spread across the country. Let us be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. As for me i believe in one Nigeria, a strong Nigeria where all will be seen as one with all parameters equal for all. “I lived in Maiduguri.

“I still own properties there. “I know the terrain.

Mr Orji is very transparent, i can see why he offered to dialogue with the sect..
Mr Orji i will strongly advice you to stay out of this. Vanity upon vanity is vanity. you can be richer if it is the will of God.

  65. Bart November 12, 2012 at 4:55 pm

Kudos to Dr Akeem comment. Ibraheem you can go to hell if you dont like what Dr Akeem has said, but that is the obvious truth. Is it that you just get up and write whatever you like or just commenting because someone tell the truth. I’m sorry for you people.
Orji Kalu has properties in Maiduguri thats why he want to get involved, otherwise he wont venture saying that.
Boko Haram or whatever they are called can continue to kill at the northern part of the country. They should NOT STOP THE MASACRE. They cannot come to the south south to do that for your notice.

  67. BRO. CHRIS NKEM November 12, 2012 at 5:05 pm

Gentlemen, i congratulate each one of you for your individual contributions and opinion, but i have to advice you not to rubbish the reputation of Orji Uzor Kalu simply because he volutered to negotiate with the brainless boko haram for the seck of peace in the nation. I am sure some of you condemning Orji have not lost a member of your family in the hands of these fools called boko haram activities, otherwise you will be calling for peace no matter who may be involved in the negotiation, praise Orji.he is a man.
However, i don’t support the idea of negotiating with the faceless and brainless fools who can not for any justifiable reason identify themselves rather keep on killing the innocent citizens. Are we still looking for their sponsors? NO, the two named senators can tell us their co-sponsors, i bet you all this noise about boko boko will die naturaly the moment their named sponsors are dealt with. They are now asking for ceasefire and negotiation because their sponsors are now unmasked. My problem with Jonathan government is that he gives enough rooms for snake that bite and killed to escape by seting up unnecessary committee. These are the group that has killed thousands of Nigerians, now asking for negotiation, even those areested among them were let go, only to be arresting innocent people in the southeast without guns and not killing anybody, simply protesting asking for self freedom that are arested and detend unlawfully.

  68. jibs November 12, 2012 at 5:05 pm

well its a welcome development and pdp that created the master called boko haram should be sincere in its intention.

  69. Igwe Obiora November 12, 2012 at 6:01 pm

Whoa!, Whoa!!, Whoa!!!. Nigeria, how long shall we carry on in a wrong footing and still remain a nation? I constantly weep for this evil arrangement called Nigeria. This is truly failed State and a mere geograhical expression which lack every known attributes of a nation. Let us go our individual ways!

The sad truth is that we have a failed govt. Tell me, of what use is govt if they cannot protect the lives & properties its citizens. Pls, lets remove ethnic sentiment, human lives are being wasted. Who knows who is next. I think to start with, the president should resign. The earlier we begin to hold our leaders responsible the earlier they begin to know it’s no longer biz as usual. We should use every opportunity to enlighten ourselves. Personal attacks is very shameful and anti civilisation. Please, lets work together for our common good. I love u all.

What a distraction!!! If FG decide to negotiate with blood thirsty murderers a.k.a Boko Haram—that will amount to Mistake of the next Century. As for Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, he has not commited any crime for requesting to be a mediator for these perpetual murderers–but let Justice Prevail, he may be overwhelmed by his humunity due to level of devastation /deaths occuring by the BK, after all other eminent & notable nigerians have also preached peace but they did not over-ruled call for Justice!!! For FG under the leadership of Dr. Jonathan also commander in Chief of Armed Forces; Nigerian Army, Navy, Airforce, NPF, Civil Defence, SSS, FRSC, Custom, NIS, Millitary Intelligence and other intelligence gathering organisations both in FG , Public & Private operations could not handle the issue of Boko Haram? It simply depits the extent of weak Structure in all aspect of Governance in the Country Starting from the Presidency to the least person in govt. Where is our Justice system????

Since After Ojukwu Death orji uzokalu is another igbo man the youth has confidence in to pursue the interest of igbo without fear or Favour.Castigating him unecessaerily wouldnt change that fact..His latest move to mediate is a laudable move until the People reject the offer..igbos we re greedy and foolish those who re consistently Witch hurting kalu bcos of Abia should tell me which state in igbo is better Off..Many of these noncompoos does Not know the magnitude of obasanjo maltreatment during his Regime to orji and Abia State for daring to challenge him when others lied Löw..Those who were loyal and Betraying igbos in abuja re the ones who re now called billionaire in their respective states and Nobody is Mentioning their names..envy and Jalousy is what is crippling us Ndi igbo.

  78. Fortunatus November 12, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Well everybody here is expressing how he or she feels, I personally do not like the idea of people here insulting others. If your Brother or Sister here say’s something you don’t like, there’s no need of using the word illitrate and others to the person, I believe before someone come’s up to read and write in the internet that person is no more an illitrate person. The idea of Orji Kalu is good, federal Government should give him a trial, some of us here who has not lost his or her love once here will be saying what he or she like’s, for them that lives there knows the pain and will support whoever that will help them end this ungodly war. God help us Amen

This another gimmick from a tanted man. Kalu has started his campaing to be indigbo flag bear come 2015. This will be a terrible mistake on the part of indigbo.

  82. Bestman November 12, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Boko Haramists are fighting unjust war because their mission is quite different from that of the Militants, but they would always like to hide under the umbrella of Niger Delta’s issue to execute their evil and malicious mission. The Northerners are trying to monopolize power forever, let just imagine how other parts of country feel that have been shepherd for long, even without been provided with all ought to. Because of innocent lives and peaceful atmosphere , their call for negotiation shouldn’t be over emphasized aside that, they better advise their proprietor to think wise instead of been mallamcious ,self and stupid because power.

  83. Okeigbo November 12, 2012 at 9:25 pm

There is ready made Round Table Dialogue To stop boko haram, kidnapping, and such. let the living in Nigeria implement the Aburi Accord. If u dialogue with boko haram or born-to-rule-Nig. There may be more dangerious terroristS’ group in 9ja tomorrow. GEJ Haram, PDP Haram, and Nig Naiira Haram may not be born in 2016, after election. Aburi Accord is the final Solution.

  84. umazi November 12, 2012 at 9:27 pm

orji kalu, bokoharam will never hav anything to do with infidel lik u…if u claim dat this move is out of love u have for igbos how many igbo victim of bokoharam hav u assisisted???how many times hv u draw d attention of international organizations on d injustice being done to igbos??dnt start wat u cnt finish for as far as bokoharam is concern,u are an arne i.e an infidel

  85. Nedu November 12, 2012 at 9:29 pm

The real problem with boko haram activities is their major area of target which is churches. Why? If you have problem with the govt why not target govt properties only! To the best of my knowledge, govt don’t own churches, and innocent people are being killed. Negotiation is not, and can never be the best option.

  86. Knx USA November 12, 2012 at 9:59 pm

  91. Ifeanyi November 13, 2012 at 12:06 am

Orji Kalu’s intervention is a welcome development. However, my hunch is that Orji might be maximising this opportunity for a political gain. Orji is an opportunist, I’ll never repose my confidence in him….

  92. Dan November 13, 2012 at 12:20 am

I would have prefer Buhari to be there and negotiate with the BOKO HAEAMS , this is becos he understand their language better than Orji, and beside he is a muslim and Orji is a Christain. Buhari is a chemelon and he is not very clear about his character. Dan

  93. GinVictors November 13, 2012 at 12:49 am

Look,Mr.Orji Ozor shouldn’t persuade them to chose him for dialog or whatsoever, this idoits choose who they want for a reason best known to them.Besides, why should Fed Gov dialog wit them.A Prepared and balance Gov doesn’t dialog or negociate wit Terrorist organisation of any disguise. If Fed Gov.continues to play boy friend and girl friend them they are indirectly encouraging other future groups to get ready for their turn.Let Fed Gov smoke them out and charge duly.

  94. holyman-Togo. November 13, 2012 at 2:26 am

why should oji mediate?,you have property there abi?, then we should clap for you, how many northers has property in the east? the richest man in nigeria is from the north, how many properties does he have in the east ? you want to dialog because you have property there,go and sit down,it will be a very big lessen to you all who refuse to develop your honey land but go as far as desert north to develop it,madugri that is full of flies, you have house there anumanu,Babangida and others are there, if they can not dialog let the situation remain, i only pity the igbo deaf ears there who refuse to come back home.rubbish.

  95. Comr Emeka November 13, 2012 at 3:05 am

    its a welcome development.
Dr Orji Kalu is national hero. I think he should be encouraged in the interest of ndi igbo and Nigeria in general.
Wat a gr8 man of our time.
    Ride on sir.

  96. cliffo November 13, 2012 at 4:24 am

Kalu how are you going to do that.
Kalu charity they say begins at home.
Go to the east and do all you can to stop kidnapping. Put peace in place.
Your people are killed daily in numbers. The north want independent moslem state of the north. What do you want to dialog. Ok maybe for you properties in the north.

    You don’t have good advisers.

  98. jonh November 13, 2012 at 7:36 am

KALU! KALU!! KALU !!! This is the greatest mistake you will ever make. Kalu failed to understand that this BOKO issue is a religious and tribal issue. 1. Against Christains and the southerners expecially the igbos. Even though he claimed to have a knowledge of their terrain does not mean he has knowledge of their activities.” ONLY IRON SHARPENS IRON” a muslim and a northerner should negotiate, KALU presence may cause more HARM than GOOD. He is not an AREWA MAN.

  100. larry November 13, 2012 at 8:19 am

Niger delta militant should not be compare with Boko Haram (terrorist). For one, militant is fighting the government because of unemployment, neglect Niger delta region despite all the money spending in Nigeria today coming from the region. On the other hand, Boko haram is terrorist pugnacious for the legacy that usman dan fodio laid behind. Only stupid government will dialogue with a killer. Nigeria government is playing with fire. Is Boko Haram bigger than Nigeria? Mr. President if you are incompetent to rule Nigeria, is better you resign before things fall apart.

  103. Sommer Rito November 13, 2012 at 10:00 am

Dr. OUK you are our beloved and illustrious son and your position on this issue is ok but at this time I think that what your likes in the Igbo land should be doing is to make sure the home from is safeguarded.
If this people have inflicted all this injury to our people Ndi Igbo brokering peace at this time will not be the solution.
The most useless agitation I have ever heard is that of BH why because there demand has no basis. In the case of the Niger Delta militants the were right because they demanded for what everyone believes was right so now all of you talking about dialogue with Boko Haram what is that they put up as their demand to the federal government?.

One thing a lot of us do not know is that the hour has come and noting can stop it .
My advice to the Igbos is that they should start moving back home and let the five eastern governors arrange for resettlement and rehabilitation of the Igbos that are displaced in the north by building international standard markets.

Orji kalu would have told us he knew these guys earlier than now. He would have let us know he knew their agitations. Having lived in any of these Bokoharam strong do not pass for a reason for which FG should allow you mediate on their behalf. It must be pointed out though that the gang knew you were there but opted for their man. All in all, I make to suggest that our security men should pull their focal lenses towards Orji kalus movement because in an issue as delicate as security where proliferation of small arms and light weapons are brisk business, such characters must be watched closely.
