•Lamido, Baraje are ‘prodigal sons’–Tukur
… Drags INEC, Baraje to court
Tukur while speaking yesterday during a seminar for youth leaders and female members of the party declared that the party doors were open to prodigal sons.
“What is going in the PDP recently is something of concern, if they go, we can tell them welcome back, but also it is something that can always happen in a family, but whatever happens should be resolved within the house but not outside.”
“A prodigal son can be accepted back, because the PDP will not disown its sons and daughters, but of course you will have to face consequences of taken a wrong step, you have to reconnect and correct your wrong step, if you don’t, the PDP train will move without you,” Tukur said.
Also yesterday, the PDP asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to compel INEC to withdraw recognition of newly registered Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).
But the faction under the leadership of Kawu Baraje also yesterday threatened the Tukur led national working committee of the party of contempt charge.
It claimed that Tukur’s leadership flouted the orders of a Lagos High Court which asked both sides to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of the case before it on who should lead the party.
A statement issued last night by the National Secretary of the the PDP under Baraje and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, condemned the press conference addressed by Tukur in Abuja on Wednesday where he threatened to sack members of the National Assembly who had declared support for the Baraje faction and arrest its officers.
“We have asked our lawyers to press contempt charges against Tukur because his statement was made in clear contempt of the orders of Lagos High Court which three days ago asked both sides to maintain the status quo.” We will ask the court to commit him to jail for his disdain for the law and the judicial system.” We have always been saying it that Tukur represents everything that must not be seen in a democratic organisation.
