Former Transport Minister and Senatorial Candidate in the 2011 elections in Anambra State, Prince John Emeka has said that contrary to insinuations in some quarters, Anambra North Senatorial Zone has more than what it takes to produce the next governor of the state. He spoke to journalists in Awka yesterday.
Prince Emeka also said that the people of the zone are united in one purpose for the governorship race and thanked Governor Peter Obi for throwing his weight behind the zone in producing his successor. He said the governor’s decision was borne out of his sense of justice and equity and maintained that the people of the zone are fully prepared and also possess both human and financial resources to assume the leadership position of Anambra governorship.
He praised the statesmanship deployed by Governor Obi in tackling some infrastructural challenges in Anambra West Local Government area in particular and the state in general. He said he was in the state to pay solidarity visit to the governor and thank him for appointing some people from his area into key positions in the state government, an action which according to him, no former governor had done.
He applauded the governor for providing the dividends of democracy through rehabilitation of hospitals, construction of Otupu bridge and the construction of Umueze Anam- Mmmiata road as well as the provision of computers and accessories to secondary schools. Prince Emeka said his people from Anam in Anambra West Local Government of the state will not forget Governor Obi for his special role in rehabilitating flood victims.
On whether he has joined the governorship race, the former minister said that he was still consulting with stakeholders in his zone insisting that they were the ones to decide his next political move.
