Anambra 2014: Ifeanyi Uba declares for guber race

From DAVID ONWUCHEKWA, Nnewi

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Dr Ifeanyi Uba on Sunday in his hometown, Nnewi, Anambra State formally declared his interest in the Anambra 2014 gubernatorial race against all odds. Dr Uba made the declaration in Anaedo Hall, Nnewi during a solidarity rally organized in his honour by a socio-cultural organization, Igboezue Unity Association.

Uba said his reason for joining the governorship contest was the passion he had for good leadership and alleviation of people from their sufferings. He insisted that he had all it took to be the governor of Anambra State since, according to him, he was well nurtured by his parents who were all teachers “and because of my good upbringing and God’s favour, I’m always successful in any venture I step in.”

The Capital Oil boss said that the setback he experienced in his business recently had political undertone, whic, he said, would not deter him from achieving his political ambition, “having been cleared by the police.”

“We are set for Anambra State. Anybody who is more qualified than I am should come out and let’s see him. I’m totally free, independent and qualified to contest this election and I know that what happened to me in the business circle came from Anambra State.

But the complainant is not always the winner. We are marching forward,” he said. In his remarks, the chairman of the socio-cultural group, Chief Pius Okoye said the group was giving support to Uba because of his philanthropic spirit, including award of scholarships to numerous indigent students in Anambra State through his foundation, Ifeanyi Uba Foundation.

Okoye and the founder of the group, Dr Cletus Ubah who said their membership was drawn from the entire five states in the South-East also said the group would ensure Uba’s victory at the polls in the forth coming guber race in Anambra just as the chairman of Nzuko Ora Nnewi (Nnewi Town Union), Chief Charles Agu Onyeka revealed that the industrial community had long ago adopted the oil magnet for the governorship race and called on other communities in the state to follow suit.

He said: “We are only happy that he has accepted our request for him to come out and save us from our bondage because of his benevolent heart. What he is passing through is man-made.”

  1. Mr Ifeanyi we all know you and your way of businesses. Pls face your business and forget about being Anambra Gov because it is not just possible for your to win that election now but you can still try by wasting your money . Those people that are supporting you are just looking for your money . But if you have so mush which i believe you have there is nothing bad in trowing some to people of Anambra in the name of campaign. Thanks

  2. My Dear friend uba if u wish to go, go ahead wish u good luck..bt wen u get there try and buid industry and employ pple in amambra

  3. ADVERT.. ADVERT.. EDMAG INVEST CO.LTD… ESTATE MANAGEMENT EXPERTS ….PROPERTY CONSULTANCE, PROPERTY SALES AND PURCHASE, HOTEL AND FILLINGS STATIONS LAND FOR PLAZA 4 SALES…GENERAL RENTING LEASE….(AT ONITSHA ASABA)ETC

  4. How earth could this guy think he can win Anambra state guber’s election. Just cos he has some money n he now think he can use this to win election, when carry on I know u will never win that ticket but at least Anambra people has right to eat ur money. By de way, have u settle ur case with EFCC n de amonco. I can bet my life on it that u know less to nothing on politic.

    • must you comment on everything ? even those you know nothing about. I know you are too idle. Lazy boy ! wake up ! Go look for a job and become responsible.

  5. You gotta be kidding me. Isnt it this guy’s company that was indicted in the fuel subsidy probe report? A man whose antics as a fraudster is well documented? I cant begin to imagine anambra people taking this fraudulent buisnessman seriously. only in nigeria.smh

  6. Ifeanyi Uba, just dis early stage u ‘ve started boasting dat no body can challenge u. This is one of d reasons I like Gov Peter Obi, he doesn’t makes noise or boast, even he pretends as if he has nothing. But you Ifeanyi as I can see it seems as if u are d type of Rochas, Victor Umeh n Ngige. Pls,my advice 4 u is 2 be focused if u are really through with d alegations leveled against u.

  7. Pls, I dont think my home Anambra is in any bondage bc we hv a gud leader (OBI). All we need is a successor who will us to that promised land and not PHARAOH. Is Ubah really the one?

  8. Uzoh from lagos on

I AM FROM ANAMBR STATE,I DON’T THINK IT IS IN THE INTEREST OF OUR PEOPLE TO HAVE MR IFEANYI UBAH TAKE OVER FROM A VERY ORGANISED PETER OBI’S GOVT.I MAY BE WRONG BUT MY UBAH APPEAR VERY CONTROVERSIAL IN EVERYTHING HE DOES AND WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS CONTROVERSY IN THE PAST.
WITHOUT ANY LOVE LOST WITH THIS MY BROTHER MR UBAH,HE SHOULD NOT ALLOW POLITICAL JOBBERS TO DECEIVE HIM OVER THE NEXT GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION WHICH HAS BEEN ZONED TO ANAMBRA NORTH,YOU ARE NOT FROM ANAMBRA NORTH OK.I WANT YOU TO PLEASE GO AND RESOLVE THE TWIN ISSUE OF SUBSIDY AND THE $15M LOAN FROM ACCESS BANK THROUGH COSMAS MADUKA,TO AVOID DOUBLE TRAGEDY.
I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST YOU BUT WE NEED MORE ORGANIZED PERSON NOT A BUSINESSMAN TO TAKE OVER FROM PETER OBI,WE NEED TO TAKE OUR STATE TO THE NEXT LEVEL BY SOMEONE LIKE DR OLISA AGBAKOBA OR CHRIS NGIGE OR PROF CHUKWUMA SOLUDO-A GOVERNOR THAT WILL BE RESPECTED ALL OVER NIGERIA LIKE FASHOLA OF LAGOS.

  9. Which nngige is organised. Who is more controversial than ngige. Obi remains d best thing that cld hav happened to anambra state. He has brought sanity n stability to anambra politics. I am in anambra nw sinc e dec and i am so delighted hw my ppl enjoy my state nw. Kudos Peter. I pray God giv us another man who has Obi kind of spirit to continue from where our amiable state gov. Obi stoppd. Proudly anambra.

  10. Obi is still the best,am happy that I will get my own share of money from Uba.,then after that he will only dream about the seat,100% he will not smell the seat

  11. I dont know wht is wrong with some nigerian bizmen, they cant be on one thing,This is the problem orji kalu had and i know he is regreting it by now leaving biz for politics, otherwise he could have been in class of Dangote or more by now,Mr uba pls think twice or you will cry loud later,if u can rethink back the moment u let people know that u are going in for politic there comes your problem with subsidy maybe u have forgotten.

  12. Look out 4 good on

Iv no comment….Haha, well well Good luck Dr Ubah. I wish you the best, Ngige is still comming out for gober, let all of them cm and declear and start sharing money. Mr Obi, who wll take over frm you? Your party is under crisis frm the root.

  13. Uba is good but he just to answer once upon time , x contest Governor of Anambra State. thats all what Uba is looking for. the best governor of Anambra State will come from Ihiala LGA. l will not mention name for now, but he is one of the best Doctor in the world. very close friend to President Obama.

  14. Uba please forget politics and concentrate on your business, those political vultures in Anambra will drain you,it happened to Soludo and many others, and be ready to be initiated into that occult kingdom and after you will still loose,Kudos to Obi he is working.Face your business Dangote is there and he is facing his business and reaching out to the poor by donations not until you enter the state house that you will help. Are you richer than Dangote or Warren B.please think twice

  15. Udam Ochiaghandigbo on

“Dr.” Uba does not strike me as someone who is primed to be a governor. First of, he reminds me of former governor of Abia state “Dr.” Orji Uzor Kalu who has no clue on how to run a government although he might be a good businessman. Is this Uba related to another another “Dr.” Andy Uba who is a notorious senstor that once was driving opposite a one way street in Delta Airport road? Say, why do these people always ascribe “Dr.” in front of their names when they are neither a Ph.D. or a Medical Doctor?

  16. Ubah u may dream to be our governor but i don’t see it happening now, bcos we have arrays of people that are more qualfied and even tremendously richer than u ok. For me a SOLUDO SOLUTION will do come 2014.

  17. Look out 4 good on

Soludo is not going to show up, if Uba is nt goin to win, abeg who will win? Name them plz, Honestly speaking those who believd that Obi is working, then vote for Uba he is goin to do more. Anambra need rich and gentle men like Obi and Uba as governors. 2014 is near we need more declearation abeg.

  18. Look out 4 good on

Andy Uba and Ifeanyi Uba, r nt even frm the same senatorial distrct nt to takl of relatd.@udam. I will vote for Uba, weda Andy or Ifeanyi, (Uba 2014).

  19. What am i reading from this site?….there is a great diff.between real politics and business man.I wish mr Uba all the best in life but if i may suggest to him,he should not venture into politics.is well with him

  20. Chief ifeanyi uba my man,i thank Almighty GOD dat u finally declare for Anambra state ,2014. Congrats for that. My advise goes that u choose a powerful civilian as deputy in Anambra central in the name of chief kenneth Egwuonwu of Alor to actualised ur ambition. The man has grass root contact and 100% pure human kindly gesture. He is there for u,if u can statistically works well. gudluck.

  21. Capital oil,why can’t u face your business this small change of your’s is growing your head.but if u must join politics start from Local Government Chairman and from their you will ripe for this.

  22. Ifeanyi Uba, you better face your businees because you will spend your money, and can never win. Peter Obi is the best. After him, the seat will move to Anambra North Senatorial Zone.

  23. M.d ur right-ubas of a name is devilish, j.j dey re realy ist class native doctors. Hw can som1 who cant pay his workers brag of wealth? As far as am concern Ifeanyi is smal suffering frm youthfl exhobitant. Does he tink Anambra govt house is motor boys. Jst pity d way he’s goin 2 waste coscharis fund.

  24. Ifeanyichukwu Ubah who hails from Nnewi represents the true change the Anambrarians want. Anambra people are tired of recycling the same old politicians with outdated policies and ideas that do not work. It is true old politicians may have experience, but memories of the past have shown us that such experiences are rife with bribery and political corruption. We do not need the old career politicians who will continue the same old politics of settlement, god-fatherism and business-as-usual of sharing and siphoning public fund. This is why we need radical break from the cycle of corruption. Chief Ifeanyi Ubah represents that change. Hence, the gubernatorial race of Anambra state should be based on talent, ability and meritocracy not on quota system. Anambra people are not disadvantaged people and no constituency in Anambra state should be regarded as having second class citizens that are in need of quota in order to have a shot at the governorship. All the different constituencies of Anambra state are replete with talented and dynamic personalities. It is race that is open to all good and credible men and women of Anambra state especially those with fresh and original ideas. We want somebody who will replace the incumbent governor Mr. Peter Obi to do better and deliver a greater dividend of democracy to our people. We need somebody with passion, mission and vision. We need Ifeanyi Ubah as Governor of Anambra state.
