The Proprietress of CEDEC International Schools, Apapa, Lagos, Dr. Ijeoma Unachukwu, has attributed children’s lack of respect and misbehaviour to ineffective parenting as a result of  parents’ inability to properly bring their children up in accordance with societal accepted norms.

Unachukwu maintained that parents should endeavour to promote, support the emotional, social, financial and intellectual development of their children from infancy to adulthood and prepare them for the future.

Unachukwu, a specialist in parenting and child’s cognitive development, said this during the School’s 2017 edition of Parents Forum, tagged, ‘My Parent, My Pride’ held at the School’s Apapa, Lagos premises.

She lamented that many kids are overwhelmed by marital challenges faced by their parents; hence they behave abnormally outside and tend to transfer such ugly things they see at home to their peers. “Marriage is meant to be enjoyed not endured. Don’t allow the devil to ruin your home. The place of parents is paramount in the development of children.
