Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief George Moghalu, has said that the Igbo would not be asking to be given the chance to produce a president of Nigeria and at the same time be talking of actualising Biafra instead of toeing the part of dialogue.

Moghalu is also the national auditor of the APC.

He said this at Neni in Anocha Local Government Area of Anambra State and Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Council Area, on Tuesday, during a sensitisation visit to the area.

His campaign team was made up of astute politicians like Sir Tony Atuenyi, Hon J.C. Okeke, Prince Ken Anazod, among numerous others  ahead of the November 18 governorship election in the state.

He noted that the agitation to actualise Biafra had taken its tolls on the Igbo, especially the youths and should be replaced with dialogue so as to concentrate on Nigerian president of Igbo extraction. He described Biafra actualization as a sensitive issue.

“I believe in Nigeria of equity, justice and fairness. Let’s go for Igbo presidency which is achievable through dialogue and unity of purpose. The Niger Delta region has ended its crisis in dialogue. The solution to any problem is dialogue. Those people who have lost their lives in the course of this agitation for Biafra are relations of some people and they feel the pains. I am saying this as an Igbo man. Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was an Igbo man before he fought for the independence of Nigeria. Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was an Igbo man before he fought for Biafra. We have to give a serious thought to this,” Moghalu posited.

On his ambition to become the Governor of Anambra State, Moghalu said it was borne out of the desire to bring a positive change in governance to Anambra people. He vowed that nobody would shortchange him in the process, especially during the primaries where some of his supporters entertained some fears. He assured his supporters that he would win the primaries and the main election without qualms.

Moghalu said he was not perturbed about the influx of aspirants into the APC for the gubernatorial election, adding that those people were welcomed to the party but would have to queue up as the party is known for orderliness and due process.

He told his supporters that they were free to accept gratifications and all manner of gifts that governorship aspirants would offer even under oath. But he advised them not to mortgage their conscience and make sure they voted for a candidate that would ensure their welfare. He assured them that he would not renege on his promises to the people of Anambra.

He said he had a lorry load of programmes and policies to better the lot of all Anambra people including creation of employment opportunities, reshaping the educational sector with emphasis on technical education, private sector partnership in over all development of the State and welfare of the women. He said he would make sure that every segment of the population benefited from his government on equal basis irrespective of religious or political background.
