Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafran Independent Movement (BIM), yesterday raised the alarm  over an impending attack  on the people of  Anambra  State  and beyond by herdsmen.

MASSOB-BIM Director of Information, Awka South Region, Paul Obiokoye, who disclosed this to Daily Sun said the information which should not be treated with levity was gathered from intelligence report through their satellite monitoring.

“From information gathered through our satellite, it has come to our notice that a group of Fulani are having serious training at Ama-Hausa axis of Nise Road in Amawbia. They gather every midnight to embark on such training and may likely strike at any moment.  Therefore, we are asking Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano and security agents in the state to be watchful and do the needful because we are going to hold them accountable in the event of any attack .”

He urged the state government to investigate their claims and prevent any impending crisis in the state. He noted that citizens have every right to enjoy their entitlements as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Police Public Relations Officer, Nkiru Nwode, when contacted said the state was safe from all indications while people should go about their normal businesses without fear.

Speaking on the successful outcome of the Biafran anniversary celebration, MASSOB-BIM leader for Anambra South Zone, Chief Arinze Igbani expressed satisfaction on their conduct so far, even as he reiterated his earlier call for the unconditional release of some of their members arrested on that day by the police.

Igbani said sharing of the national cake can never be a solution to Biafra agitation. Also speaking, a legal adviser of the group, Mr. Charles Ugo wondered why Biafrans were finding it difficult to break out of Nigeria, since the 1914 Amalgamation which he said expired two years ago after 100 years.

“Even the international community has recognised us now more than before, but, I am particularly surprised at government’s resistance to our struggle because the agreement made on our behalf by Britons has expired and that is the 1914 Amalgamation. We are not supposed to suffer for this at all,” he said.
