Nigerian transport business operators have launched the digital haulage scheme into the industry to further improve client service experience. The initiative coming from the stable of Central Africa Logistics is an online platform where operators in marine and land transportation can meet to move their goods from one location to the other with supersonic precision.
The platform, which is web-based, has a software application (app) designed to make it have a smooth operation. The app, according to the Chief Executive Officer, CDA, Mr. Frank Isom, provides a tracking device that enables transporters and good owners to, at every point in time, keep a tab on either their shipment or vehicles.
Aside being a money-spinning venture, Isom disclosed that the initiative would create about 50,000 jobs. Explaining this, he disclosed that even transport brokers who would assist transporters get loads or help shippers get transporters would be signed up. Also, automobile stations where truck viability would be checked would be set up across the country. “So, it’s going to generate lots of jobs all over.”
Describing transportation as one of the lifelines of industry, the CEO who spoke during the recent launch of CDA, noted that without effective transportation system, goods produced cannot get to the market, and ultimately, the consumers. The app, he explained, can be accessed from google play via a mobile telephone set. “If you’re a shipper or a transporter, you sign up and post your goods. Or you can search for goods to transport to wherever.”
Speaking on how the haulage innovation would help drive national growth, the CEO explained that the gesture can help push down cost of goods and services and boost the financial sub-sector. He said, “for instance, you wish to go to Abuja, you go online and see what goods are going from Lagos to Abuja and those coming from Abuja to Lagos. If transporting such goods to Abuja will cost N300,000, you won’t take less.
