NPFL champion, Rangers International of Enugu believe they still have the midas touch to put them back to reckoning for this season’s league title, as the 2017 second stanza begins Sunday at the various centres in the country.

The Flying Antelopes ended the first stanza with a 3-3 draw against Gombe United in Gombe.

They will kick start the second stanza with a reverse fixture against the Savannah Scorpions tomorrow at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Plateau United who are leading the pack with 35 points would be guests of Katsina United who are on 25 points.

Speaking ahead of the season’s opener, Rangers mid season sign on Ifeanyi George believes they can hold their own and fight for honours despite their poor start to the season.

The Flying Antelopes are 16th on the league table with 12 points behind leaders, Plateau United.

George, who said the quality of players they have does not reflect their standing on the log, insists Rangers deserve to be in a better position.

“Most times when I look at the crop of players in the squad, I feel bad to see the team in that position.

“I am optimistic that we will do better in this second stanza.”

“Rangers have brought me in to strengthen the squad and now the team can go into every match with a level of confidence that we can do it, either home or away.

“This second stanza, we have a target that before we play like five games the team would have moved.

“Rangers have always been a team I love. When I was leaving Enyimba to Rangers I had it at the back of my mind that I am coming to be a plus. When I was coming I had it at the back of my mind to win titles for Rangers.

He maintained that the team can still fight for the title in the remaining 19 games of the second stanza.

“I don’t think it’s impossible. I think it’s still possible to win the title. We have 19 matches in the second round and most especially the Federation Cup is also a possibility.
