Minna, capital of Niger State is already agog for the wedding of the daughter of former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, Halima, today.
Activities started on Thursday with Wallima (Quranic recitation).
This was followed with a cultural night, a colorful cultural display by various cultural troops, within and outside the state.
Halima, Babangida’s second daughter will  be given in marriage to a Gombe State-based business mogul and Sarkin Sudan of Gombe, Alhaji Awwal Abdullahi.
The wedding Fatiha will take place today, at Babangida’s Hill Top home and this will be followed at night with a dinner/reception at El-Amin International School, Minna.
There is already beehive of activities at Babangida’s home, with the inflow of dignitaries from all walks of life.
The Hill Top residence has been given a facelift, with the renovation of the entire mansion and other structures around, preparatory for the wedding which has been the talk of the town for over a month now.
Also, school, venue of the cultural night and the reception, is wearing a new look with a state-of-the-art decorations.
Daily Sun observed that all hotels in Minna arefully booked, including government guest houses for expected guests.
It was gathered that the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, will lead all former first ladies and wives of states governors, both former and serving to the wedding.
Vehicular traffic is already building up in metropolis, due to inflow of dignities who have converged on Minna, since Thursday, with traffic Wardens having hectic time controlling vehicles.
Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Bala Elkana, told Daily Sun adequate security arrangement has been made for the wedding, with the deployment of 1,500 personnel.
Elkana disclosed that the police men were deplored to all the hotels, highways, airport and foot patrol and surveillance within Minna and it suburbs.
