Anambra State indigenes resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have expressed their readiness to mobilise all indigenes of the state in Abuja, at home and in Diaspora to support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November governorship election in Anambra state.
Briefing journalists on the resolutions reached at a meeting in Abuja, the coordinator of the group, Chuzzy Anagwu and Secretary, Joe Menanya said the group will go the extra mile to assist the national leadership of APC to conduct a hitch-free party primary that would ensure the emergence of the best and marketable flag bearer. The Ndi Anambra FCT, who warned indigenes to eschew hooliganism, regretted that the high level of human endowment in the state could not translate into good governance, assuring that they are determined to connect Anambra State to the national political grid of the APC.
“In spite of all the quality human beings, the political elite in the state have not, in recent years got things right politically due to wrong and miscalculated political decisions, alliances, connections and poor leadership.
These political elite have been committing political suicides in all their actions and inactions and have caused the state and its people a lot of retrogression in all ramifications.
“The impending Anambra governorship election this year is therefore a golden opportunity for Anambrarians, home and abroad to join the right track politically in order to get the expected positive, progressive and all-encompassing change for the state and its people.
“Having articulated these political miscalculations and challenges facing the state and its people, we the Ndi Anambra in the FCT under APC have decided to take the bull by the horn and show the way and vision by embarking on the following actions:
“Go the extra mile to assist the national leadership of APC to conduct free, fair and hitch-free primaries which will pave the way for the emergence of the best and marketable APC candidate that will finally contest and win the highest seat in Anambra State.
“Do the needful to connect our state, Anambra, to the national political grid of APC, the ruling party, in order for our state to harvest the much expected infrastructure and human development which she has been starved of for years it was outside the national political orbit.
“Go the extra mile to educate and motivate out people at the grassroots to register with the APC, register and keep intact their voters’ card, with which to elect a more purposeful and visionary leadership under APC.
“To serve as game changer in the forthcoming governorship election, hence we call on Anambrarians at home and in Diaspora to join hands with us, to achieve our dream of a better, more prosperous and peaceful Anambra State.
“To encourage all politicians in Anambra State to live above board, maintain peace, transparency, fairness and tolerance during and after the forthcoming governorship election in the state. As we know, the state is bigger than any individuals, hence we discourage hooliganism and violence of any manner, all trouble shooters should stay away from Anambra State,” the group warned.
