Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, has said that
Nigerians would soon enjoy clean, affordable and sustainable water.
In a statement released, Adamu said “In line with the above, our focal
point of deliberations in this 24th Meeting should be on a
well-articulated strategic plan for urban water and sanitation
improvement in our cities for economic growth.”
Adamu disclosed this at the 24th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Water Resources held at Akure, Ondo State, recently.
He further stated that the ministry has made some efforts to improve
the water sector of our country which include; the National Urban
Water Reform to address the problem of urban water sector and water
agencies and the PEWASH initiative to address the problem of rural
water supply and public sanitation.
In his address, Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, said that the
decision to host the 24th Meeting of the National Council on Water
Resources at this time was borne out of the fact that potable water
supply is one of the priorities of the current government in the state.
According to Governor Akeredolu, “Our Government therefore is resolved to improving the lives of the
people through adequate provision of potable water”, he said.
Speaking further, the Governor said that the Federal Government is
saddled with the construction of dams and making raw water available.
