Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups (NCBSG) remains the only political platform still standing and working assiduously for President Muhammadu Buhari.
The minister stated this during a courtesy visit to the NCBSG national headquarters in Abuja on Monday. The minister, who was received during the scheduled visit by the Chairman, NCBSG Board of Trustees (BOT), Senator Abu Ibrahim, was conducted round the newly furnished ultramodern office.
The BOT chairman informed the minister that the huge support the president has given the committee and his close interest in its activities, has kept it going. He then enjoined the minister to encourage his colleagues to lend their hands of support in ensuring that the philosophy and objectives of the NCBSG receive the massive push they deserve.
Mohammed was also taken through critical multimedia presentations on NCBSG Strategic Action Plan and the strategies for 2019.
The minister, in his remark after the presentation, was full of commendation for the NCBSG and was, particularly, thrilled by the quality of the presentations.
He said the NCBSG, with its widespread membership across Nigeria and its well thought-out programmes, remains a veritable tool for advancing the cause of voter education and enlightenment on civic rights, among other things necessary for a democratic polity.
“The citizens will know their rights and be abreast with government policies and programmes through modern avenues like social media and other ICT devices,” he said.
“With the quality of the presentation I have seen, I can see a lot of mental resources have gone into this and I am very comfortable that our party, come 2019, would not have any problems facing the elections,” the minister added.
Speaking earlier in his introductory remarks, the NCBSG National Secretary, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, informed the minister that the committee has worked tirelessly to ensure all the support groups and stakeholders that worked for the emergence of the Buhari/Osinbajo presidency do remain committed to the success of the administration’s development-impacting programmes for Nigeria. Mr President, he added, “has given his full support and the NCBSG shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the journey toward a new Nigeria suffers no hitches.”
