Taraba State coordinator of New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Mr. Dennis Nev, has commended Governor Darius Ishaku for his giant steps in bringing infrastructural development to rural areas in the state.
Nev, a retired Permanent Secretary Government House Administration stated this, on Wednesday, in his office in Jalingo while briefing journalists.
He noted that the opening up of rural roads across the state by Governor Ishaku would boost the economy of the state, improve the living conditions of the rural dwellers and bring to fore the agricultural potentials of the state.
According to him the ongoing construction of Lacheke-Pantisawa, Wukari-Tsokundi, Chanchanji -Takum and Mararaba Baissa roads when completed will ease movement of people and goods thereby, boosting economic activities of the state.
“The fixing of Chanchanji bridge and the road itself is a fulfillment of the governor’s campaign promise to the people of Chanchanji and I want to appeal to the governor to also facilitate the establishment of a commercial bank in the area,” he said.
“Bringing a bank to Chanchanji will further boost economic activities and reduce incidences of armed robbery attacks on traders coming to transact business in the town, which is one of the biggest markets in the state,” he said.
The NEPAD coordinator, who commend Governor Ishaku for establishing Agro Green House farm, said it would not only boost the economic profile of the state, but create jobs for the teeming youths of the state, even as he lauds the governor for signing the anti-open grazing and ranches establishment bill into Law.
He explained that the law would help put to end incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers, thereby, contributing in restoring peace in the state and checking food security.
Nev enjoined the governor to quickly meet the requirements of NEPAD national and continental body to start accessing funding opportunities for projects in Taraba for the good of the state.
He maintained that Taraba was in safe hands with Governor Ishaku on the saddle, called on all to join hands with the governor to build a virile Taraba for the good of all.
