The workshop and exhibition organised annually by the Nigeria Automobile Technicians’ Association (NATA) was conceived as a training programme for personnel in the auto sector and technicians providing services in the industry.

This was disclosed by the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of NATA, Comrade Asiwaju Jacob Omonide-Fayeun, in his welcome remarks at the 14th edition of the event in Lagos, recently.

According to him, it was also a forum where manufacturers, dealers and distributors of all brands of automobile spare parts and accessories as well as oil companies impart knowledge to auto technicians on the latest trends in the industry.

He, therefore, implored government at all levels and companies to accord due recognition to NATA and other informal workers, in view of the vital service they render.

“We account for over 80 per cent of new jobs in Nigeria, according to recent statistics from the Federal Ministry of Labour,” Omonide-Fayeun said.
