The National Assembly leadership is about to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to resolve the standoff on the 2016 budget.

Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Abdurazaq Namdas, who dropped this hint when he spoke to journalists on Thursday, said the President had sent a letter to the National Assembly outlining the “grey areas” in the 2016 budget that need to be addressed.
“I can confirm to you that we are in possession of the letter from the President identifying grey areas,” Namdas said.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, had said on Wednesday that the Nigerian government was yet to conclude talks with the legislature on the 2016 budget, but had set up a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to ensure that the budget delivers what it promised when finally signed by the President.

Mr Udoma spoke to journalists after the Federal Executive Council’s meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
