Barely 24 hours after about 300 protesters from Umunzarabia, Ogwu-Aniocha community in Ogbaru council area of Anambra State besieged the Government House, Awka, to register their displeasure over the hijack of N20 million oil exploration compensation paid to them by the Shell Oil Company, another group from same community was at te Government House, on Wednesday, to disassociate themselves from the earlier group’s action.

The protesters carrying placards with various inscriptions said that the Senior Special Adviser to Gov. Willie Obiano of Political Matters, Mr Arinze Awogu, who the previous protesters had accused of embezzling the fund using his cronies and instigating communal crisis, was innocent as accused.

The group, led by one Ben Nwasike, said that although Awogu hails from another community, he waded into their lingering intra-communal feud to restore peace in their land.

“Arinze Awogu is innocent of the accusations levelled against him” he said.

The 25-year-old feud between their town and Oguta community in Imo State before the court ruled in their favour, Mr Udom Casmir Osita who led the previous protesters had said, claimed the lives of some persons including one Mr Ajeyi Egwuenu who died in Owerri prison.
