“I wish to register my aspiration to contest for the governorship of Borno State on the platform of our great party, the APC,” the minister announced.

Minister of State for Power, Housing and Works, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri, has joined the the list of aspirants contesting in the Borno APC gubernatorial primaries next Saturday.

Shehuri told journalists at a press briefing in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the he resolved to join the race for the gubernatorial ticket of his party because he believed he was experienced enough to deal with the fallout of the nearly decade-old Boko Haram crisis.

He said he has made wider consideration and was now informing the public of his intention.

“I wish to register my aspiration to contest for the governorship of Borno State on the platform of our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC),” the minister announced.

Shehuri’s announcement brought to 22 the number of APC governorship aspirants contesting in next Saturday’s primaries. He was the governorship candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change  (CPC) in 2011 election where Muhammadu Buhari also contested and lost.
