THE West African College of Physicians has de­scribed the giant strides of the Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration in the Health Care ser­vices in Ondo State as second-to-none in Africa.

A team of medical experts from the Lagos-based college, led by Dr Aboi Madaki made the assertion during a courtesy visit to Governor Mimiko in his office in Akure.

The medical personnel who had visited the State Specialist Hospital and other health facili­ties for accreditation in Family Medicine Training Programme, lauded the initiatives of Mimiko.

The leader of the team, Dr Aboi Madaki who said the college is proud of what he called Gov­ernor Mimiko’s unprecedented achievements in qualitative health care services with respect to women and children, noted that any nation that wants to make a headway in healthcare delivery should take primary healthcare seriously.

While stressing that the state specialist hospital has what it takes to get accreditation for Family Medicine Training Programme, Dr Madaki ap­pealed to the Governor to put in place a legal framework that would ensure the sustainability of all his laudable projects in the sector.

Responding, Governor Mimiko, who thanked the college for the visit assured the team of his ad­ministration’s commitment to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far.
