The legendary discipline in the Roman Catholic Church recently attracted the envy of a Pentecostal preacher, Bishop John Praise Daniel.
The cleric, who is the President of Dominion Faith Institute and founder of International Leadership Communion of Ministries (ILCOM), extolled the discipline in the orthodox Catholic Church, at the consecration of four bishops by his church in Abuja where he descended on the leaders of the church world over.
Using how the dust raised by the transfer of the founder of Adoration Ministries, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, from the parish he nurtured was calmed down without any negative effect on the church to buttress his assertion, Daniel posited that the cleric would have founded another church the following day if it were in a Pentecostal denomination:
“I know if it were in a Pentecostal church, a new church would have started the following day. A man with over 30,000 worshippers still agreed to leave everything to one small church. It’s discipline. Let there be more discipline; we have the power. But let there be more discipline in the Pentecostal church.”     It was a moment of truth as the preacher told the newly elevated that their office was a call to greater responsibilities, warning that it would not be rosy all through for them; but like the Bible said, “weeping may endure for a night.”
Taking his text from Hebrews 5: 4, he charged preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be sure they were called before coming into the ministry; noting that people do all manner of things including indulging in occultism for the sake of “fame, crowd and money.”
The former Deputy National President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), however, sounded it clear, that no man is perfect arguing that a man is anointed bishop does not make him infallible. He urged the new bishops to be humble like Christ so that they can receive exaltation:
“Humility is the pathway to service; being servant to the people”, adding that being a bishop is not a title, but it means more work, more responsibilities. He charged them to be alert to their responsibilities.
Bishops and visiting Bishop Judy Malaza from South Africa supported Daniel in praying and laying hands on the new bishops. Before the vestment, presentations and salutations were made, a lawyer administered oath office on them. They were decorated with consecrated elements.
Special prayers were also made for the Church in the North East of Nigeria, where more than 2000 churches were allegedly closed down by the persecution of the Boko Haram insurgents. Two of the new bishops, Bulus Elan Taya and Falib Ndagawa hail from Numan and Mubi respectively in Adamawa State. The two others were Bishop Ken Oko Daniels (Ebonyi) and Bishop Dr. Gabriel Nkenang (Akwa Ibom).
