• Rohr heads to England for Eagles goalie, Moses

Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart was on hand to motivate and support Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme as he visited him at the hospital.

Ikeme who last week was diagnosed with acute leukaemia by the club (Wolverhampton Wanderer), a championship team in England, during a series of blood test, has been receiving wide support from players around the world.

The Nigerian international has been Super Eagles number one goalkeeper since the departure of Vincent Enyeama; helping the team with crucial saves as they defeated Zambia 2-1 and Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Hart’s visit will serve as a moral boost in his fight against the disease.

On Tuesday, the club also declared that Ikeme will maintain his number one shirt despite the arrival of goalkeeper, Ruddy this summer.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, is to hit England to visit Ikeme, who was recently diagnosed of acute leukaemia, and Victor Moses, who has undergone a toe surgery.

On Wednesday, an NFF official announced that the Eagles adviser, who is currently in Europe, will visit the two players to express his solidarity to them ahead of the 2018 FIFA world cup clash against Cameroon.

“Rohr is on his way to England to visit both Carl Ikeme and Victor Moses after their latest fitness concerns,” a top NFF official disclosed yesterday.

In the meantime, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has asserted that the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, and his players are focused and strategizing on the all-important 2018 FIFA World Cup double header versus the unconquerable Lions of Cameroon.

NFF Director of media and communications, Ademola Olajire, yesterday said that the Franco German coach is still in Europe where he has been meeting with the Europe based players and their managers on the much important game.

Olajire, who was reacting to online reports that the Eagles technical adviser has threatened to resign his appointment over NFF interference, urged Nigerians not to distract the coach and players with negative reports, stressing that the team is intact and will not need any form of distraction ahead of the double header clash with the African champions.

“The team is focussed on the game against Cameroon. The Coach is still in Europe and has continued to meet with players and their managers ahead of the matches. So I think they do not need to be distracted at this particular time with negative reports”, Olajire noted. The NFF image maker also disclosed that the NFF and FIFA has reached an agreement on the date for the Super Eagles match against Cameroon in Uyo, noting that the federation was able to convince FIFA on its stand on the September 1 date.
