A man, Samuel Ejike, was on Monday charged before a Grade 1 Area Court at Karu in Abuja on Monday for alleged trespass and criminal intimidation.

However, the Judge, Mr Hassan Ishaq, granted bail to Ejike in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.

He directed that the surety must live within the jurisdiction of the court and that the address of the surety should also be verified by the court.

Ishaq added that the surety must also submit his driver’s license or national identity card with the court.

Ejike was arraigned for alleged criminal trespass and intimidation, punishable under Sections 348 and 397(b) of the Penal Code.

Earlier the Prosecutor, Mr Ismail Mamud, told court that one Fred Eguedike, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on May 13.

Mamud said that the defendant was in the habit of threatening his neighbors whenever they tried to intervene each time he quarreled with his wife.

The prosecutor said that the defendant had trespassed into the home of the complainant, a neighbour and an uncle to Ejike’s wife to terrorise him.

Mamud stated that the defendant went to the apartment of the complainant on several occasions where his wife and six-month-old child sought refuge after each quarrel.

After listening to the charges, the defendant pleaded not guilty and the matter was adjourned until July 11 for hearing. (NAN)
