Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has assigned portfolios to members of the interim leadership.
At the national convention in Port Harcourt, the former Kaduna State governor and Senator Ben Obi were proclaimed as chairman and secretary, respectively, alongside five others with the mandate to run the national secretariat of the party for three months.
Makarfi assumed office on Tuesday after a peace deal brokered between his team and the Senator Ibrahim Mantu-led Concerned PDP Stakeholders.
At the end of the committee’s inaugural meeting with members of staff at the party’s national secretariat and the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), Chinwe Nnorom, Head of Publicity Division of PDP issued a statement to announce former minister of State (Works), Prince Dayo Adeyeye, as publicity secretary and Hajiya Aisha Aliyu as women and youth leader.
Former deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ningi and Senator Odion Ogbesia assumed positions as head of Organisation and Mobilisation and head of Finance, Treasury and Audit, respectively.
Kabir Usman was pronounced the legal adviser.
In the statement, Makarfi further reiterated that his  committee would not exceed the period given to them by the national convention to reorganise, reform and conduct a free, fair, credible and all inclusive national convention.
