The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has resolved to give Franco German coach, Gernot Rohr all the support he needs to beat Cameroon.

A top official of the Glass House who pleaded anonymity pointed out that what Rohr needs now is not undue interference simply because he lost a match.

In his words: “Rohr needs to be left alone and allowed to plan properly for Cameroon. We all know that the absence of some key players affected his game plan against South Africa. We missed key players like Mikel Obi, Leon Balogun, Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo name it.”

The soccer buff was equally full of praise for the NFF president Amaju Pinnick who he noted did his best before the South Africa match.

“As an insider, I can confirm to you that Amaju sweated to see that things went well including spending his personal money. He (Amaju) funded the friendly against Togo. The truth is that several factors worked against us and we must not derail because of what happened. There is no need to start pressing panic button. Again, it is not true that Amaju, abandoned the team and Nigeria football for CAF and FIFA activities. He (Amaju) was actually supposed to be in Korea for the FIFA U-20 finals and also in Gabon for CAF activity but he abandoned all of that to ensure that every arrangement was in place for the South Africa game. As we speak, he is home to concentrate on the task ahead instead of being in Russia for the Confederations Cup which kicks off this weekend. Let me also correct the impression that he (Amaju) did not allow the Technical Sub-committee to work and scrutinize the team list. I ask, did the committee do so in the other matches we won? For your information, the functions of the technical committee is to secure match video tape for the team and advice the technical crew. But how far has the committee delivered on that responsibility? The reality is that the loss was beyond administrative arrangements, I can’t understand why people are very hostile against Pinnick when things don’t go well. What we need now is not any form of bickering. We need to concentrate on the task ahead and ensure we pick both the World Cup and AFCON tickets.”
