Kaduna State Government on yesterday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna town and its envrions.
This was announced in a short statement by Governor Nasir El-Rufai, on his verified Twitter handle, yesterday.
“This is a notice of a 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna town and environs, with immediate effect. Residents are advised to comply with this directive. The decision has been taken in the best interest of the state,” El-Rufai wrote.
The governor’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, also confirmed the curfew.
“Twenty-four-hour curfew has been imposed on Kaduna town and environs. It is with immediate effect,” Aruwan wrote on his Facebook page, yesterday evening.

Earlier, there was tension in Kaduna metropolis, following rumours of reprisal of the violence in Kasuwar Magani area of the state, laston Friday.
At least 55 people were confirmed killed in the Kasuwar Magani violence, which had a religious undertone. Last Friday, the state government, imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area, following the violence.
Many residents of Kaduna metropolis rushed indoors, yesterday, when irate youth burnt old tyres along Katsina Road, Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Lagos street and Ahmadu Bello Way.
A resident of Mararaban Rido, Mrs. Hanatu Simon, said the issue began at a church where a man as caught suspiciously recording the pastor’s sermon with his mobile phone.
At Sheikh Gumi Market, a trader, Ibrahim ya’u said it was a spontaneous reaction as people “just started running when they heard there was crisis in town.”
