It was indeed a remarkable night recently, as celebrities stormed the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja for this year’s edition of Magic Lens Africa Film Academy Awards (MAFAA). 

Celebrities at the show include like Kanayo O Kanayo, Vitalis Ndubuisi, John Okafor, Francis Duru, Stan K Amadi, Linc Edochie, Agility Onwurah, AGN President, Emeka Rollas, Nazareth Jesse, among others

The CEO, Magic Lens Africa Film Academy Awards, Charles Awurum, explained that  MAFAA was established to honour distinguished Africans that have contributed immensely to the progress and development of the movie industry in Africa.

“So far, the journey has not been easy. However, we are relentless in our commitment to promote unity, peace and economic development of Africa through the movie industry. No doubt, the relevance of film as a powerful tool for social integration and economic advancement cannot be over-emphasized,” he stated.

Awurum further called for support from Nigerians, especially good spirited individuals to support MAFAA financial and morally to make it a global event.

On the sidelines of the show, Abuja-based artistes thrilled guests, while Ambassador Wahala delivered rib-cracking comedy.

The list of awardees includes Henry Coco-Bassey; Hamza Al-Mustapha; Nigerian Florence Okonkwo (UK); Qunicy Peter Okoukoni; Hon. Uchenna Festus; Mr & Mrs. Chidi Simon; Ibinabo Fiberesima; Loveth Ebede (USA); Precious Atanga (Cameroon); Andy Best (Cameroon, USA);  Leemon Ikpea, Best Davis and Patrick Ottor.

Others were representative of some international institutions such as House of Commons, London, Kate Osamor among other dignitaries.
