The National Union of Kebbi State Students Association (NUKSS) has joined the call for Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu to run for second terms in 2019 general election.

Recently, Governor Bagudu second terms campaign posters had flooded major streets and towns in the state.

Leading hundreds of students in a solidarity rally in Birnin-Kebbi, on Thursday, to Government House, a students’ leader and stakeholder of NUKSS, Comrade Muhammad Adamu Kichinga, in an interview with journalists said the Union were in total support of second term bid of Governor Bagudu.

“We are also supporting him for second terms. He paid our school fees, scholarship and bursary. If he decided to run for second terms, we shall support him”.

Earlier in a press conference tagged ” Special Democracy and Solidarity Press Conference statements, National President of Kebbi State Students Association Comrade Mubarak Aliyu Kalgo, disclosed that Governor Bagudu had settled the backlog debt owed WAEC and NECO examinations to all manner of students across the state .

” A breakdown of payments to examination bodies showed that in the year 2015, the government paid the sum of N280 millions as outstanding balance inherited from the previous administration to enable Students access their result withheld by the bodies.

“Similarly, in 2016, the payment statement N391 million was made to WAEC and NECO which made it easier for students to secure admissions without any hitch”.

Kalgo added that the present administration also paid N270 million as balance to the two examination bodies,N500 millions for the payments of all students in tertiary institutions from 2015 to 2017.

” I want to state it categorically clear that no state in the country is ahead of Kebbi State at the moment in terms of tuition fees as it is on record that while an average payment of a Kebbi student is as much as N100,000,as against N10,000 obtained in some other states.”.

The students however resolved that they would continue to support the present administration and reciprocate the government gestures by ensure academic excellence.

While hosting the students at government house, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Babale Yauri appreciated the students solidarity and charged them to continue to be good ambassador of the country as well faced their academic squarely stressed government would always support education sector for better improvement.
