As part of programmes to celebrate its 45 years anniversary, the Kebbi State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Tuesday, embarked on environmental sanitation across few public places in Birnin-Kebbi, the state capital.

The corps members, led by the new State Cordinator, Mr. Shicha Joshua Simon, staged a rally to different motor parks, markets which included the Sir Yahyah motor park in Birnin-Kebbi Central Market where staff and corps members swept the areas and cleared gutters.

While speaking with newsmen at the Birnin-Kebbi Central Market, Joshua Simon noted that the NYSC scheme had been a united tool that brings Nigerians together in the past 45 years it was created.

“We are embarking on this sanitation across the state as part of our activities to celebrate our existence in the past 45 years. If you remembered very well,NYSC was established in 1973 by General Yakub Gowon to unite the nation.

“We are happy today that the scheme continued waxing stronger and stronger. We have been to different motor parks and markets to clean up these places.

“This is also part of our contributions to ensure safety of our society besides our roles to complement government’s efforts on education, and other social responsibilities “.

The coordinator assured corps members in the state that he would improved on their welfare as well as their security.
